A 94-Year Tradition

Dad and I were lucky enough to go to the Monrovia Day's Royal Coronation this afternoon, held in the banquet room, on the top floor of the Monrovian Restaurant. Lauren Miramontes was a member of that Royal Court so we were invited as her friends, and Lauren had suggested Bishop Cornwall as someone who could give the Invocation. Rob Hammond - our Mayor introduced him and dad did a great job. We had a lovely luncheon.

There was a beautiful display of past courts - including our cute Katie.

Laura Fernandez was the new queen, (in the center) and Lauren Miramontes and Vanessa Paniagua were the princesses. The girls in the copper outfits were last year's court (Geri Rodriguez second from the left) and the woman in the white pantsuit was Ms. World and she crowned the new court.

The Miramontes were proud parents.

The Kinches were the proud friends and neighbors (I think he is their home teacher).

There was a group of Lauren's friends to cheer her on. They are all in my seminary class. We are very proud of Lauren - it was a lovely way to honor her accomplishments.
