SCHOOL DAYS

On a warm fall day in 1985 a long chapter in Jason's life began as he boarded a school bus at the top of Ivy Ave. to head off to Kindergarten and his first day of school. Now 2000+ school days later a marvelous milestone in that chapter is realized with Jason's graduation from BYU. We all head off to honor The Buster and wish him well deserved Congratulations

Spring Has Sprung

Even though our seasons are more subtle than other parts of the county, you can really see spring on the trees. This tree is usually in bloom around Valentine's day and it has just hit it's glory in the past few days. The Walnut tree has the brightest greenest leaves you could ever imagine. It is still chilly - but beautiful. We are excited to go to Utah for some warmer weather.

Rachel and Andy

I taught my favorite chapter in all the standards works today - 3 Nephi 17!! This is where the Savior shows so much compassion on the Nephites, he stays, he prays with them and for them, he heals them and then he calls the little children up and one by one blesses them, then the angels cannot be held back - they encircle them about like fire. I started off my lesson by asking for the students to think of someone who they admire because of the way they treat people. I got the usual blank stare. I talked about Arloa Whitaker who brought me flowers because I turned down the lead at the high school (after the lead had broken her leg) to be true to my commitment of being in the roadshow. (That is me in the above picture - Mrs. Noah) While I was telling that story this picture came into my mind. Then I realized that I actually have a picture of me standing next to Dr. Andrew Skinner - just released Dean of Religious Education at Brigham Young University - and we were Mr. and Mrs. Noah. Just a little bit of Sue Cornwall trivia. (P.S. - Cindy Walker is the girl behind Andy's hand/sleeve). I then asked the class if they would share the person they were thinking of. Lauren Miramontes raised her hand - the only hand to be raised - and said "Your Daughter." Now I have three nice daughters - I imagined that it could have been any one of them. She then elaborated that Rachel is the kindest person that she knows. She is a friend to everyone and then she said that she has never heard her say anything bad about anyone. (Sarah Fiore chimed in with the same sentiment) Rachel tries hard at this and I am thankful she is like that and that she is part of our family!!!

Fun random pics

We miss Sarah and Rachel .....but they are coming soon!!! YAY!

This was my gift from Marybeth for Valentines Day. Neat huh? We forgot to blog it then, but we needed a new blog today anyway so here it is.
A Young Ambassador Engagement

Mimi showed up last night with an engagement ring from Greg. They are getting married the last week in July. It is Mimi's mom's ring and is beautiful. It was sure exciting because Annalice saw it first and then all other 13 girls came screaming in and wanted to know the whole story. The boys were a little annoyed with us. It was funny to see Randy come over and take a good look at her left hand. Sorry this my be a boring blog for some people but I thought the girls would enjoy it because they know the Young Ambassadors so well.

Auto PEZ Alert

Sorry to bump sweet-in-pink Paisley from the top Blog spot, but this is hot news. Disney/Pixar Cars PEZ are the latest issue. I know we still have not found the other new issue per Robb's alert -- the Over the Hedge series. So now we have two for which to be on the look out. That is all.

Paisley in her Pretty Pink Pants

These are Paisley new pink corduroy pants. She is very pretty in her pink pants. Stefanie wants a pair just like them. Oh yeah, this picture was taken with our brand new digital camera! Perfect quality huh?!

Newport Beach Temple

Dad and I went to the Newport Beach temple this morning to see Kathy Holling get sealed to Dan Morris. I kept thinking about Katie and her wisdom teeth while we were driving down there. (For those of you who don't know that story - we took Katie to the Open House just a day or so after she had her wisdom teeth out and it was too much excitement for that girl). Glad you are all done with that experience and lived to tell about it. The Hollings didn't have much family there and it was nice to represent her Monrovia Family!! The sealer who sealed them gave a most interesting and informative approach previous to the ordinance. I learned so much - dad said he did too. It showed me that I can live a lifetime and still learn things from my temple experience. It was wonderful.

Sleepover!!

Sarah is having a sleepover tonight with very cute cute girls. From left to right we have Kristen Federoff, Samantha Wette and Chelsey Witt. They all came over after Beauty and the Beast practice and are spending the night until Beauty and the Beast practice tomorrow morning. I hope they get some sleep. It is too early to tell right now.
Just Hanging Around Marybeth's Classroom

Here is Marybeth in action, She is with one of the students named Joey and she is going over reading and some spelling words. I went to Marybeths class today to "try" and help out as much as I could.
Today the students went to different stations today, and I was in charge of the "Tramp" (as we say here in Utah) I am seen her with Ashton, He wasn't too motivated to jump on his own so I had to help him, but he would not jump on his own so needless to say my arms got quite a work out.
One of the things I looked forward to the most was lunch. Not only because I would get to eat, but that I would get to eat at the Cafeteria. As you can see I got a very yummy ham sandwhich, so good I ate Marybeths too, french fries, but Marybeth got the smiley face fries, the cafeteria has come a long way.
Here we are at some down time while the speech pathologist did some group activities. I got pretty attached to the kids as you can tell from this photo
I was promoted from the tramp to get to help with the legos. While there I decided to take on something a little more challeging. I was just clowning around when I finished my creation and the funny thing was when I was done I found the exact same design was in the lego pamphlet.
As soon as all the kids left I was able to get a turn on the swing, It suspends in the middle of the classroom and is one of the highlights of the day. It is really comfy dispite how it may look. It kind of reminds me of when Sarah or someone was really sqwished in the tire swing at the cabin.
The real reason I am in the swing is because I finally got a chance to rest after a long days work. It is not an easy job and a salute anyone that has the opportunity to teach such kids.
Roommate Memories
Today I had lunch with Amber Foy, my freshman roommate. I haven't seen her much in the past year or two so it was fun to catch up on old times. She is graduating next Friday then moving to Omaha. She was a great roommate and I am grateful for our friendship.

Here is the Church, Here is the Steeple

Today we signed-off as complete, a new meetinghouse in Oxnard. It has been under construction for the past 16 months. We started the design and agency processing over 3 years ago. It is a rewarding time to have the job done and ready for use. The plan is a standard 3 ward church. The exterior is
totally custom due to the requirements of the local architectural review committee.

We took the standard brick and white steeple design and turned it into "spanish colonial" as required.

The Church members are anxious to use it, once we get the final occupancy permit from the City.

Easter - Petered Out

A month ago I noticed that Peter Rabbit for 2006 came out in a different stem color. So I looked and looked for the pink stem (rare, hard to find). Every drug store anywhere carry Easter PEZ. No one had the pink stem. Then I glanced at our collection and what to my wondering eyes should appear, we HAVE the pink stem. The 2006 variation is the BLUE stem. So the day after Easter, for 50 cents, the BLUE stem Peter Rabbit was added to the museum collection.

Okay Guys!!!

Tonight dad and I went to MHS for Open House. It was pure joy talking to all of Rachel's teachers. Just as we were leaving I saw Mr. Troung. Since Rachel is going to have him next year I thought I would put in a good word for her. We introduced ourselves and Mr. Troung acknowledged that he had had other Cornwalls. He proceeded to try to remember all of your names - unsuccessfully I might add. He nodded as I said Jason, Robbie, Katie and Jeffrey. Then his eyes lit up. Jason - he came to school one day dressed as Gilligan. Jason - you still have it "Little Buddy". That made a strong impression. You dress up ten years ago and people still remember.

Do These Cornwall Girls Look Alike?

I had several people comment that they thought Paisley looked alot like Rachel and Sarah when they were babies. Here are pictures for the comparison!! There is nothing like babies at Easter wearing pink!!!

Sarah - 1993 - her first Easter

Rachel - August 1990 at Temple Square

All Natural

Glad Rachel doesn't mind being "All Natural" (see previous post's comments). What cute girls to have in our family!!

Stringing You Along

We probably need to finish off our wonderful weekend with our last post of Easter morning. After coming down the stairs (in age order) everyone followed their string to their Easter basket. Some were a little bit more complicated than the rest. That was followed by an indoor Easter Egg Hunt and then by breakfast.

What a dang cute family!!! I have gotten many many calls this week talking about how darling Paisley was at church on Sunday!!!!

Paisley tried on her swimming suit and loved it!!! She was really the star of the day.

A PEZ-tacular day!!!

You will never guess what I found. I hadn't been to Walmart in a long time so I thought that I should stop by and I am glad that I did. I have never even seen or heard of these ones. It is a set of four however when I showed them to people they said why did you get 4 of the same? I didn't try to point out the differences, only true PEZ collectors would appreciate. I tried to do a more scenic picture so you will have to click on it to get a better view.
COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO. Thank you so much for these PEZ. I love the rooster, it has been one that I have looked forward to having it in the collection. For those that don't know I got the Rooster for easter and Marybeth got the Bunny
