First Day of School

I am the only Cornwall at BYU Provo this semester. I think it is going to be a good one.

Sunday

We have two very grown up, very cute kids. It looks as though Paisley is no longer a toddler but a little lady. Jarom is a very handsome boy in his cute Sunday clothes!

LA CANADA FIRES

Many have thought about about Grandpa C. with the La Canada fire being so prominent in the national news. Mom and Dad went out to see Grandpa on Saturday afternoon (while Sarah was at the Stake Beach end-of-summer-party). Being on the Flintridge side, Grandpa just has a spectacular view of the fire(s) on the other side of the valley and sometimes a lot of smoke, depending on which way the wind is blowing . (Thanks to Grandpa for e-mailing us the photos he took from the back yard.)

View Wed. eve the day the fire started.

View Thursday morning - smokey sunrise.

The fire spreads - east toward Altadena and west toward La Crescenta.

View Saturday - the breeze comes in from the ocean and blows the smoke north. Uncle Chris in Palmdale reports the smoke is horrible on their side of the mountains.

View Sunday morning. With the unusual circumstances of a) no prevailing wind b) triple digit temperatures even at night and c) humidity staying low, even at night - the fire doubles in size from 42,000 acres to 85,000 acres over Sunday night.

It stinks!

Boy, do I love overalls!!!

Our Sunday Report (a few days late)

It was a crazy Sunday. For singing time we had a Birthday party for President Monson. I had balloons that the kids had to pop and inside was a song and action. I made mini cupcakes for each primary child.During the third hour Daniel had an accident and came home looking like this.
Then I was inspired by Jeff and made a cherry pie. The cherries were hand picked from a friends yard. It was yummy.

Growing Up

Jarom wasn't always the biggest baby in our home, but he sure is now!!

This picture was taken June 21.
This picture was taken August 21.

We love our cute, growing boy!!

REMEMBER THE GRAD

We all recall the day when Robb was admitted to BYU. Acceptance letter in hand he ran around and around the outside of the house hooting and yahooing. We were all so excited. And now, with his wonderful helpmete, Marybeth we are excited for the blue robe and his conquering this segment of his academic journey.

3 Months

Daniel has really grown up this past month. He loves to smile, watch Elizabeth, coo, lay in the crib with Elizabeth, drool, and my favorite, he tries to sit up.

2 Months

These past two months have flown by, but at the same time it seems like we have had Jarom forever. He is such a sweet little boy. He loves to watch his big sister dance. He loves to try and sing along when you sing to him. He is very smiley (although he has his fair share of crying time). We are working on him becoming a better sleeper. He is also a big traveler like Paisley was. He has been to 6 states in his short life! We love you Jarom!

A New Kind of Wednesday Night Activity

Now that Jason has been released from the Young Men's Presidency he now has Wednesday nights open. It is so nice to not dread being left on Wednesday's now. So instead of mutual yesterday we went for a picnic dinner and to feed the fish at a pond nearby. Jarom slept throught all the fun. It was a blast!! We love having Daddy home on Wednesday nights!

FYI we both have new callings. We are the activities committee co-chairs. Jason is the ward music chairman and I am the Sunday bulletin person (3 third time for me!)

NAUVOO the Beautiful

Mom & Dad had a most special trip to Nauvoo, primarily to be there for our eldest son's eldest son's blessing. We are so proud and happy with Jason and Stefanie and their little family. We were very honored to share in a few moments of the great Whelchel family reunion. The setting, spirit and poignant saga of Nauvoo were wonderful to the heart and eye too.

The Nauvoo Pagent is, as it is intended and should be, one of the highlights of visiting that rich spot of earth and history.

50's

I volunteered to be in a movie for the Library. It was 50's themed so I did some good research and easily picked out this outfit with my own clothing as well as spiffing up my hair:

GIRLS CAMP 2009

Dad got to drive to Girls Camp for the Arcadia Stake today to Camp Rancho La Scherpa in the hills 25 miles north of Santa Barbara.
The great Monrovia girls.

Bunk house buddies moving in.

The Great Group of Arcadia Stake Girls
(Orange shirts 5th/6th year YCLs, lime shirts 3rd/4th year, yellow shirts adult leaders and blue shirts 1st/2nd year.)

The Silly Great Group of Arcadia Stake Girls.

CAMP SUNSET

Today was the end of an era.
Sarah and Dad may have attended about 12 Girls Camps together. For all but one of the past 13 years Dad has had the opportunity to attend Girls Camp with his 3 girls (3 years as High Council Adviser + 6 years as Bishop + the last 3 years.) For several years, while Mom was in Utah with the CES Symposium (since deceased - the Symposium, not Mom) Dad took 8 - 11 year olds Sarah and Rachel up with him. That probably computes out to about 27 Girls Camp years (12 with Sarah, 5 with Katie, 10 with Rachel). This is Sarah's last year and the end of the run. Dad will probably keep going, but without one of his very own girls. Oh! It was fun, fun run.

Shopping... frugal style... oh wait.... I bought two :)

I recently found a pretty good deal at the Nike store. I smile every time I think about it, so Katie keeps encouraging me to post. The shoes below have a suggested retail price of $120 dollars. I was able to buy them for $29.39 ...but wait, it gets better. The picture below is of the same shoe with a slightly different color scheme (no yellow). I was able to get this shoe ($120 suggested retail price) for $20.99. Both of those prices include tax.

BEAUTIFUL TRIP

Mom & Dad are back from 3 special, special days in Nauvoo, Ill with the Jas Cornwalls. I think there will be some posts to follow. It was wonderful.
