Bear-ly A Dull Moment...

This morning dad noticed trash all across the back yard. He knew it wasn't our usual foothills wild animals because the black garbage can was tipped over. I was pretty shocked when Robbie called me at seminary and said there was a bear in our back pecan tree. He had brought his car in to change the oil before they left for Utah and while on his back, under his car, he noticed a large paw dangling down and beat it into the house to protect Marybeth. I called the police on my way home from seminary and an animal control officer and a police officer were there then I got home. Marybeth was quick with the camera and so we were able to document our bear visit. When the bear scampered off the officers said - well, it's not your problem any more. I have seen the officers several times today around the neighborhood. No trips to the garbage can after dark for me for awhile!!!

FAMILY FANS

It was family night at the musical to see Sarah in Sweeney Todd. Grandpa C. attended too, but left before the pic. Sarah was great... and getting better, along with the rest of the cast.

LET'S GET TOGETHER

We are enjoying having some extra bodies at 336: Rachel home from college for the week between Winter and Spring semesters; Jeffrey and his two best buddies (for the same); and Robb and Marybeth who pulled into town last night.

HELPING HANDS

This morning, Mom & Dad joined with over 100 members of the Arcadia Stake as part of a LDS Day of service. Hundreds of community projects were done throughout the state. Arcadia worked at the Foothill Unity Center - a non-denominational food bank that serves the foothill communities.

OPENING NIGHT

Sarah and the MHS cast open tonight (and run this and next weekend) with this year's MUSICAL.
It is definitely a
cut beyond your typical high school musical.
We are proud of Sarah. She has a particularly
beautiful and haunting voice does she not?

Temple Trip

We have had the most beautiful weather so on Sunday afternoon we decided to take a picnic to the temple. The grounds are covered with tulips and daffodils. Elizabeth loved the flowers and reflection pool.
We invited several friends and all the little kids were so cute.

Elizabeth's favorite thing was the angel Moroni. She kept pointing to him.

NEW EASTER VIDEO

I know we are past Easter, but the message is for all time. I just became aware of this. Rather that post the video here I will just share a couple of links to this most excellent new video - YOUTUBE and Church Web Site.

Easter in Helamen

I know it was a week ago, but I have not even had the slightest chance to put up these pictures of Easter. Our Relief Society took photos outside, and we had a great time!

Good ol' Aardvarks came through to provide my easter dress once again.
Our 2nd counselor likes to catch people at odd times . . .
That afternoon Hilary, Lauren and I went to Hilary's grandparents' house in Bountiful for hamburgers. We had a grand ol' time.

About Paisley...

Yesterday it was finally time to start joining the yard care club. We picked up all the sticks and branches that had fallen off our trees, we picked up the annoying little balls that grow on our tree and then fall on our grass, Jason mowed until the mower ran out of gas and we sprayed some weeds. Paisley during all of this was a good helper when she needed to be a good player when there wasn't anything for her to do. She also got to have a fudge-sicle for being such a great helper which she proceeded to eat and wear.

Paisley is a good mommy. Just as she has learned that sometimes a time out is necessary to calm down or to learn a lesson she also is teaching her babies that they must go to time out to learn something. I don't know what this baby did, but she needed a time out and then Paisley lovingly picked her up to comfort her and remind her that she still loves her. (p.s. Paisley picked out her not matching outfit, not me!)

Yesterday we read a book about Clifford and spring cleaning. In the book it talks about planting a garden. Jason asked Paisley "what do we have in our garden?" To which she responded without any hesitation "Weeds!" Thanks a lot Paisley. We'll get to hoeing out the weeds immediately.

Die Walkure

Sarah and I had a very special treat last night. We were invited to use the Terrill's opera tickets (Sister Terrill is having a surgeical procedure on her knees this morning). We went with Rene Lehman. It is a 5 hour opera with an hour lecture before the performance starts so we had a full evening.
We started the evening off by having a picnic at the tables in front of the Dorothy Chandler Music Center. We attended the pre-lecture given by the conductor - James Conlon (his picture is on the right above Sarah in the picture above). Boy did I learn alot. He is passionate about Wagner. Another special treat was that Placido Domingo (pictured on the left above Sarah's head) played the part of Siegmund. He was amazing along with everyone else.

We were in the balcony but with a tilted stage they were great seats. Thank heaven for the subtitles above the stage. The Dorothy Chandler Pavillion is a beautiful place - loved the chandelliers.
Check out the opening of act three - a PBS special - very different staging than ours - but you can get an idea of the music.

Our Easter

The loot! Notice our Easter Bunny's tradition of making a mini bunny out of a napkin. What a silly fellow.
The Easter bunny was very good to me. Look at that cute journal, bobby pins, tic tacs and Twilight. What more could a girl want?
Robbie made out like a bandit too. A handsome new tie, two of his favorite movies, a BYU pen and a mini Book of Mormon to bring on campus. Oh and a hand embroidered towel.
I decorated some cookies while Robbie was taking a test Friday before conference.
As you can see I had a little too much time on my hands. It was a fun time! If you want to know how they tasted ask Rachel, she got to have a few herself.

It was a fun Easter and Conference season!
