Industrious Girls!!!

First day of Rachel's work!!
We have two very gainfully employed girls around 336. Sarah is continuing the great tradition of camp. She has had as few as 3 and as many as 12. She is doing it for 7 weeks!!! Today there are 9 kids - 3 who came for the first time. Rachel has a great assignment from the Temp Agency working for the Headstart Headquarters in Altadena. Dad takes her to work and I think they are having lunch together today. (Jason - remind you of those IndyMac days????) Rachel also got booked for a catering job tomorrow night and Sarah is working the Terrill wedding. Oh those hard working girls.

Yum, Yum

Today we enjoyed a delicious zucchini from our garden. It tasted way better than those we get from the store! It was exciting to be enjoying the vegetables of our labor.

Hot Worldwide Music Festival

It just so happened that with Jeffrey home for a visit and break between semesters this week, that Pasadena was host to a huge music festival. On Saturday there were about 40 stages around Old Pasadena. Jeff being the go-to-concert-connoisseur that he is went with Dad and saw about 6 acts. Mom brought the girls over for the last group. At 105 degrees, needless to say it was HOT!
Sorry about the bad picture. It is an image capture from a bad cell phone video. (Jeffrey took videos with a good camera tho'.) To see a little better picture go to http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/ci_9661291. We saw the group in the newspaper photo. Jeff and I both liked them the best.
This link http://www.pasadenanow.com/_ArticleManager/publish/article_4601.shtml also tells about the big show.

OREGON STRAWBERRIES
Elizabeth and I went strawberry picking yesterday and we had so much fun. I don't think Elizabeth has been more dirty in her life but it was so worth it. I was amazed at how smart she is. I sat her down in the middle of the strawberry bushes and she started going to town. At first she put the entire strawberry in her mouth, stem and all and would eventually spit out the stem. After a few trials of that she began trying to pick the stems off. She wasn't successful but it was so cute. I think she ate more berries then we picked. We can't wait to go back and pick more.

SUN, SAND & COUSINS

It was a day at Sunset Beach. Jeffrey just had to get in some surfing.
The "little" girl cousins enjoyed the surf and the sun.
The girls spent the most time in the water (I guess for the boys is was - too cold?)
The "little" boy cousins had the most fun.
The "big" boy cousins looked the coolest.
All beachers and John & Shirley rendezvoused at 336 for Monrovia Pizza Co. pizza.... another of Jeff's favorites he has missed for a long time.

Martha has done it again!

From the latest Everyday Food magazine issue there is a great summer grill recipe! It is the pork, apricot, and red-onion kebabs. They were delicious! We give it two thumbs up and will include this in our summer meal rotation. Good job Martha, keep them coming!

Elizabeth Girl

Elizabeth has a had a little trouble sleeping in the early morning and to keep our neighbors happy I have been laying down with her in random places until she falls asleep. She has fallen asleep on the couch, our bed, and the floor of her room.Elizabeth also had her one year old check up and got 4 shots. She was tough and ate graham crackers during the whole appointment. She is healthy weighing 19 pounds 9 ounces and 29 1/4 inches long.

Sat

I have wanted to go to the Farmers Market so after some unsuccessful garage saleing and a nap we went downtown with Nicolina and Ethan. It is a very cute little farmers market with at lot of produce. We had a lovely picnic on the grass of the County Court House. We looked at all the vendors and all the little shops on main street one of which was a cute little cafe perfect for the Stratford cousins. It was a fun little outing.

Produce Progress

Our nice little garden is starting to produce some yummy veggies. The radish was delicious. It was little but we cut it in two and shared it.

We now have some little baby squash and little zucchini.

We also have a few pea pods growing. We were nervous that our peas were going to die before having some peas but they grew their little hearts out! We are so excited that in a few weeks we will be able to enjoy our yummy veggies!

JUNE 14 - A SPECIAL DAY

Today would have been our wonderful grandma/great-grandma Cornwall's 80th birthday. How fortunate we are for the time she was with us and the more beautiful place she made our world.

Barbeque Birthday

We had the Larsens over for dinner to both visit with Grandma Hodgkinson and to celebrate Blake's second birthday which is on Sunday. It was a great night. Love those Larsens!!!!

Holey Cow

The girls decided to get their ears pierced yesterday. We went and saw Indiana Jones at the mall and afterward we were headed to Claires. It is kind of the tradition to get your ears pierced with Grandma - so this fit in great.

Sarah went first and was super strong. Rachel was surprised that it hurt a little bit because Sarah's face had been so stoic during the process.

Here they are with Grandma in front of the store.
Grandma took us out to Mimi's for Sarah's birthday after that. We are having a very fun week.
