I thought that only the chemistry kids and the like celebrated such a day but I guess it is pretty common. I hope it was a great one for everyone. I got an email and a few notices of today.
Okay for all you who (unlike Rachel) were too proud to admit that you have no idea what in the world "Pi Day" is, I will give you some clues. "Pi" is, as you all know, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It is always the same, for every circle --- the number is --- yes, everyone say it together ---- 3.14..... And what is today's date 3/14...... So it is "Pi Day", Celebrated by nerds all over the world. Cann't wait til next year, Mom promises hamburger pie for dinner with banana creme pie for desert. At least I hope so, or maybe that is just a pi in the sky dream.... Ah,ha.
To think throughout all my year of math classes this momentous holiday was never mentioned, well next year there is going to be a major holiday blow out so that this holiday will never be forgotten. Here is a fun Pi day song I found:
Pi Day Song
Refrain: Pi day songs All day long. Oh, what fun it is, To sing a jolly pi day song in a fun math class like this. (Repeat )
Verse: Circles in the snow, Around and round we go. How far did we have to run? Diameter times pi! (Refrain )
