'Allo Mum. Dreadfully sorry- there wasn't a bit o' internet 'round jolly ol' London. Sorry love. BUT, I have a wee video for ya'.
Oh mom, I'm torn apart that I can't be there, especially to thank you for providing me with the chance to have this amazing experience, which ironically is the reason for me not being there. Anyway, please oh please know that I am so thankful for your life and love and I know you're the greatest. Truly. AND, the best part of me being away for the special day is that now we get to have a BIG party when I get back. Woot. AND, I'll present my present to you at that time.
There truly aren't words to exress how much I adore you and look up to you mum.
love, Rachel

Beautiful Ballerina
Fastest Month EVER!!
Well this post is going to just be a quick breeze thru of what our past month looked like. We don't have internet access so its just going to be like this for a little while. At any rate we are loving our new home but indeed miss good old Provo.

I went out to dinner with a few of my close friends in Provo. The four of us spent a lot of time together this summer....especially at the Peaks. I am going to miss these ladies so much!! In fact I already do.
Well, I can't put the delightful pictures I took with my students before I left on here so you will just have to settle for their hand prints. They made me this very cute sign!! It was a very emotional time for me. I absolutely loved each one of my students and this past year was the best year I have had yet in all of my teaching!
Then I headed across the country with Alicia by my side and with a lot of help by my Tucson.
I stopped in Kansas for a not long enough visit and saw these cute little toes......

And this cute little face. Jarom is sooooo cute!!

Paisley wanted her own little photo shoot as well!

It was very fun to see them. Thanks for letting us spend the night Jason and Stefanie!! I miss you already!

This past weekend I had my first class in Boston and while we were there I was able to attend Bess' wedding reception. It was so fun. For those of you who don't know Bess, she and her sister Hannah were my sisters for a year, I have plenty of great memories I could share. We had so much fun together and we all dreamed about and talked about our wedding days. It was so fun to see her so happy and married to such a wonderful young man. She looked Beautiful.

Here we all are together. The four from( 1992-1993 )sisters (before H and K were even born) and the two new hubbies!!
Later that night we had a Zeller party. Complete with Chinese food, the movie Eragon and Friendly's Ice cream sundaes Yum!!!
And here is a picture of some sunflowers.....nope not in Kansas but in our own little, beautiful town. Also in our town (Well neighboring town) is the "Umbrella House"

Thats right, Robbie saw it on his way home from school and every rainy day since then we have tried to drive by. There have to be like 30-40 Umbrellas all over their house, garage and yard. Its amazing. I can't believe we went out and bought one a week ago. If only we had waited I am sure they would have graciously given us one, what with so many!!

I am loving the beautiful leaves. I have missed them so much!!
And here is Robbie right in front of the beautiful welcome sign! We are finally here!

PARIS POST PEEK
Each week Rachel turns in a photo assignment and essay on a particular topic on the BYU-in- Paris Blog. A link to Rachel's latest post is HERE.
I hope she doesn't mind us sharing. You have seen the photos on the CC&G blog and perhaps would be interested in her essay. Some of you (ahem... Jeffrey) might be further interested in some of her mates posts and photos.

Chillin' with Mistah Hugo . . . not miserable at all.
Part of one of my classes is to go on these walks that the department has put together. Part of that was to go to the residence of Victor Hugo from the years 1836-1848. It was pretty gorgeous - lots of original victorian furniture and most of the original pieces of his japanese dish display. It was very interesting.

I actually didn't take this photo, but this is where he lived. Woot.

There were a few stories with lovely stairs and tile and that fantastic old house smell. Yum.

To prove I was there.

Had to get one with the man himself.

The poor little stairs . . . they're a little bit slanted.

Religious Photo Project Preview
So I have a photo project due Saturday night about photos with religious themes. I need to choose four photos, and I can take more, but I figured I'd do a little preview and ask for feedback . . . so, voila! And actually they don't need to be B&W, but most of the time I can't help myself. Bad, yeah.

We also have to do some writing, so for this one I was thinking I could talk about cleansing: the true source and worldly fix-its etc.
This one could be about juxtaposition between religious/secular and church/state.

I actually have no idea about this one. It would probably be just meat to support the theme I go with.

I kind of just adore this photo - the symmetry and the shadow of the cross etc.

Maybe something about light, turning toward the true light etc.

This is just a reincarnation of the one from above (without the same stellar composition.)

These are the backs (fronts?) of the chairs where people kneel to repent. The light came into the room and I couldn't help but snap something.

I thought this could just be an ironic comparision between the world- "do not come near" versus the savior's "come unto me" as shown by the little relief on the altar.
*by the way, the last photo I turned in was presented in class as a stellar example (with a few others) of great work. I was pretty excited.

Kind of A Day in the Life . . . or random snapshots from today
I whipped out my camera all day long and snapped LOTS of random photos of things that I see everyday, and love, and want to share with you fam (and others of course.)

The day started out with a protest. It was something about the government closing down 235 businesses within the last year. That's a problem.

A patisserie. They're lovely, and usually very occupied.

Such delicacies.

We went into this interesting little art exhibit about this guy who does posters in this cartoonish form. The 2 euro entrance fee felt more like a donation to the support of the arts as opposed to being worth what we actually saw, but that's fine with me.

This building was built by an archbishop because . . . he wanted to, I believe. It houses the library in Marais, as well as the little exhibition from above.

There were about 10 bikes chained to this fence. There are LOADS of people who ride bikes in the city. It's great. I haven't rented a bike yet, but that day is coming.

This was a school (lycee is the word for high school) and there were lots of cooly-cool kids sitting around. Some other kids were running around for PE in this old courtyard, it was very strange actually.

There are florist's shoppes ALL over, I love it. The shoppes are tiny so they're always spilling onto the sidewalk and the smell is so luscious. Je l'adore!

I loved the flowers they made with chocolate on the left. They're a little chocolate cup with the huge chocolate flower on top, I'll have to pick one up for more detailed photos.

Okay, last patisserie picture. And there are really two reasons for this many, a) they're everywhere and b) they're lovely n'est-ce pas?

I was at the park for a couple hours just sitting and chatting with another girl in the program. It was lots of fun to sit and observe for that long; there were people coming and going of course, but there were also lots of people who stuck around longer than we did. And then this little boy came along with his little baby trench and I had to catch it because it was just too great to pass on.

And this is the metro. Kind of boring considering I sit there a couple of hours a day, but I've come to consider the metro an essential part of the city and why some Parisiens are the way they are.
