Another Martha Stewart Meal

Tonight for dinner I made a cauliflower/broccoli soup from Martha's everyday foods magazine. It was really good. I used my blender connected to my mixer. Thanks MOM!! We had leftovers and the magazine talks about how well the soup freezes so I froze some. I think I will try it with another veggie soon. Miss Elizabeth gets cuter everyday.

TAGGED

Here we go. Check it out. It's pretty cute.

The Lunch Bunch

Yesterday I had my Institute Buddies for lunch. We have talked about it for over a year but this was the first time we did it. They wanted to see the "new room" and it was a great way to visit. My flowers were supposed to look like that last Saturday. I am glad that I had an excuse to show them off!!

I Got Tagged!!

This is my first time being tagged. I am not very good at this sort of thing - I am always the one to break the chain letter - it isn't that I mind doing the first part - answering the questions, sending the recipes or fabric etc. - but when it gets to the part where you have to tag someone else (or write names on a chain letter) I feel very uncomfortable. Since one of my favorite sons tagged me (ROBB!!) I thought I would participate - plus these questions were cute.

Two names I go by:
1. Sister Cornwall
2. Suser (My sister Terri used to call me this and Dad Corn has called me that a few times.)

Two things I am wearing right now:
1. An apron (ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!!)
2. Still in my seminary dress!

Two of My favorite things to do:
1. I love to be with my family. Really looking forward to going to Utah in a few weeks.

2. I love to do handwork - knitting, quilting, smocking. I'm itching for another project to start on.

Two things I want very badly at the moment:
1. To be planning a family getaway!

2. A piece of tunnel of fudge cake.

Two favorite pets I have had/have:
1. I'm sorry our kids can only put down fish as a pet - but I had two dogs growing up - Fredrick Von Zipher - a maltese.
2. We also got a Siberian Huskie that Uncle Clark named Toshka - which he named after a city in Alaska that he found in the Atlas.

Two things I did last night:
1. Dishes
2. Caught an hour of 24 - so that we could get the borrowed CD's back to the Hoopes.

Two things I ate today:
1. Oatmeal
2. Pink Lady Apple

Two people I last talked to:
1. My very cute, amazing, talented husband.
2. Carolyn Maxwell - my institute buddy.

Two longest car rides:
1. California to Washington D.C. and back again.
2. When dad and I went to the wrong building to meet Robb at the end of his mission in Georgia - I was already too excited and then to have to go across Atlanta - being anxious - it felt long!!

Two favorite beverages:
1. Water
2. Orange Juice

I tag Rachel and Sarah!! Let's hear about their world.

CONSIDER THE LILIES

Mom was the keynote speaker at the great Arcadia Stake Women's conference. The theme was (see post title) and Mom's topic was Seek Ye First the Kingdom of Heaven which she brilliantly interwove with the topic of lilies and how they are so diverse in the world, like woman and can each grow and blossom if nurtured in the right way.
Mom explained wonderfully what building the kingdom is and how it can apply to everyone. (p.s. Mom went down the flower mart and bought every type of lily they had.)

Mom has had many wonderful (deserved) honors in her life and this would have to be one of the finest and one in which the Cornwall Family can be very proud.

OUR FRIEND ADAM

On Wednesday, Mom, being a close friend to the Marshalls and Sister Marshall's visiting teacher received one of the first calls that 13 year old Adam passed away early that morning.. Mom ran right over... while Dad sub-taught seminary... and she helped the family all morning and got the bishop over and helped in the this very difficult and tragic time for the Marshalls. He died of causes incident to his cerebral palsy.
The service was lovely and very touching at the Monrovia chapel on Saturday morning. Mom ran over from the Women's Conference to play the organ and read the beautiful eulogy that Adam's dad had written. Dad Cornwall had the honor of the being the speaker and talked on the wonderful 13 'volumes' that made up Adam's special life and what is beyond the 'bookends' of birth & death. The chapel was full with many friends, a lot of whom were from Sister Marshall's work at Huntington Hospital. The new R.S. Pres. - Brenda Carlson and her crew put on a very nice luncheon for after the interment at Rose Hills.

A Great Man Remembered

President Gordan B. Hinckley passed away today at about 7:30 pm mountain standard time.He was born in 1910, and has served as our beloved prophet since 1995. For many of us he was the prophet of our youth. The influence he has had over both the young and old alike is absolutely undeniable. I am personally so thankful for our beloved prophet, and this beautiful gospel that will continue to roll forth. We love and miss you all.

The Flashbacks in Action!!!!

(This is a long one but there was too much good to hold back)We had our first Intramural game last night, and boy were we amazing. The final score was 7 to 5 (Well Phil scored one for them, I think he felt sorry for them.) For those of you that don't know we formed a Cornwall Cousin team, Plus those that feel like family. Phil one of Jeff's good friends feels like a brother and Michelle, a friend of Thomas. We have an awesome team!!!Some of these pictures are blurring, but I will post them anyway. I will give a break down of everyones game on the field.

Robbie Team Captain Scored a goal on a header from a throw in by Jeff had an assist or two and was really tired. Hopes to be over his cold by next game.
Marybeth Co-Captain - Did awesome on the field. Was in the right places at the right time. She played Great Defense, Superb Offense, and everything inbetween. And she looked awesome in her soccer gear.
Jeff I would say gets the MVP and hustle award, Jeff will be Defensive Player of the Year for sure. Nothing gets past Jeff and he plays offense as well but always gets back on D.
Dallin He was kind of a secret weapon. Our first string goalie went down and he jumped right in and he was like a brick wall he was great. When he was in the field he tore it up as well
Katie Has had a child and did not miss a beat, I think she made her daughter proud. She played a little D which she is not used to but did awesome and played well on offense.
Thomas is a star and has more moves than anyone I have seen. He scored 2 goals with a handful of assists. The other team said after the game that the first goal was awesome. It was!!!
Tyler Is our first string goalie and that guy is great. He bought goalie gloves and he was diving and saving everything. He even blocked a PK!! but hurt his wrist diving and sat out.
Jaycee was so good. I am not sure how much experience she has but it seemed like a lot. She played defense and was so aggresive. She was so Speedy as well
Phil you gotta love him. He was everywhere doing everything. That mission to Brasil has really payed off. Many could have this but I called Phil "The Wall" Nothing got past him.
Michelle she scored 2 goals (Goals scored by girls are worth 2) She did good on offense and was a good compliment to the other great girls on the team.
Sorry if I didn't failed to mention some personal highlights of the team, I tried to remember everything I could. Feel free to add in the comment section Personal highlights.Someone wasn't folding their arms during the prayer. Got to love BYU!!
Our pre-game Ritual. I can't tell you about, you just have to see it in real life. It is Wicked.
Sorry for the personal picture, but I thought it was a great action shot and I happen to be in it
Dallin, making sure everyone is where they are suppose to be.
I like this picture. With a defense like that you can forget about scoring
One of my favs. Look at that action shot. She has got what it takes to be the next Mia Hamm
Jaycee in the background preparing for the ball
Marybeth and Phil taking a breather after playing very solid
Victorious, The game is over and everyone looks like Champions
Jaycee did way more than hold a baby but that is a very cute picture
Thomas happy after a win

Tyler Shows off some of his battle wounds from diving. Here is to a speedy recovery.

Can you feel it? It is almost here
I finally found the right stuff for my shoes, can you tell a difference? I will probably do it again before game time tomorrow to make sure they are looking extra good. Sorry about the random post but I am just way too excited.

FREE-FUN-411

Google provides a 411 / Business Directory service. It's "fun" because it has no ads. It tells you quickly the business name and what street the business is on. Then it will connect you or you can ask for details to get the full address and phone number and then it will connect you.
Works from cell phones or land lines.

Snow in Monrovia!!!

We woke up to snow in Monrovia. None right around our house but plenty around town. Here is Rec Park.
The armory!!
The new houses down the street.
WOW!!!

Movie Morning

This morning I made a little fort in our basement and Paisley and I (both in our pj's) watched a movie and ate popcorn. Paisley was so excited when she came downstairs and saw the fort, and was even more excited to have popcorn downstairs! I had to use our drying rack to make it tall enough for me to sit under it with her and to make it spacious enough. It is funny because I didn't bother to take the drying clothes off of it, but now that it is on the blog for the world to see, I wish I would have remembered that fact. Oh well, that just makes even more true to our normal life and not posed!

Bath Time

This video displays Elizabeth's new favorite bath game. I moved her all the way to the other end of the tub and she still got it.

Flying on the JET!!!

With all the snow today we went sledding. It was impossible to find sleds!!! For those that have seen those Christmas movies where they race for the last gift or honey ham in the store. We walked into the store and saw 3 sleds walk out. We got in and everyone had that look in their eye and they tried to beat you to them , but there were none left. We finally got one that is really only used for ice fishing so the sides are really high, which proved to be a bad thing. but on the side it said Jet Sled Jr. and they didn't give it that name because they thought it sounded pretty. That thing flew.

We went with our neighbors and had a really fun time. They brought the two sleds you see here I think their names were slow poke and molasses. The couldn't even compare to the JET. I'm getting ready to head down. (If you couldn't tell)

Marybeth is always so cute and tonight was no different. After our first run she was a little hesitant to FLY in the JET, and we will tell you why in a bit. But I think she beat out our neighbor for the greatest distance in the Jet of course, and the record had to be beat by going into the street a little bit.

I know these are both dark, but it was the only way to get some action shots. So enjoy them for what they are worth. Just focus in on the dark moving objects.

Sorry about a double post of me on a sled, I am not vain I promise, although I do look pretty darn.... anyway. Unfortunately this is the only picture of the Jet Sled Jr. aka THE JET. It is hard to see from this picture but it looks like a car carrier that should be on the top of a car. That was the smallest one they had. There were 4 different bigger at this sportsmans warehouse place. The first run was approaching, and Marybeth didn't want to go by herself so I was the lucky one to go with her. We took "the Jet" of course not knowing what was in store. I was of course in the back oblivious to anything going on besides our momentum. As we started down the hill I was thinking alright we are cruising, this thing is awesome. It is pretty big and wide and we both fit really well. We are crusing along and then we hit this jump perfectly... the only problem was that was not our intention. (Remember Robbie in the back.... ) Marybeth at least had some time to prepare. According to our neighbors we got at least 2 feet of air from THE JET. Lets just say it was literally a crash landing and it was not pretty. Sleds don't cushion that well and those wonderful high sides that keep all of your stuff inside met my back in just the right spot. I wish I could say I just started doing some push ups or something to make it look not so bad. I just laid there for a while. We are both pretty sore, and I think more is on its way. I just hope it is nothing worse. I kinda feels like it might be, but I am hoping for sore muscles. Sorry it was long but it could not have been summarized. But we had a great time. And next time you want to fly you can borrow the JET anytime

Sunday Dinner

I planned a special Sunday dinner to welcome Dallin back and Marybeth and Stefanie should recognize it. It is from the Everyday Food Magazine. Thanks for the great gift mom. It was delicious.

All Dolled Up for Church

Elizabeth looked so cute at church in her new dress and coat. I made the bow to match. She looked so grown up. Thank you Grandma!!!
PS We want to see pictures of Paisley in her matching dress and coat.

Blue Eyed Girl Party!

On Thursday I invited Elizabeth over for a blue eyed girl party.
(Sorry you 4 other blue eyed girls in the family...you missed out)
Somehow word gets out fast when Elizabeth is close by and handsome young men come flocking...so we didn't get too much Blue eyed time before these brownish green eyed boys showed up.
Here she is with Robbie...she didn't seem to mind that he came to our party.

As you will see in this cute video...I think she enjoyed Jeff being there as well.

Those two boys tried to put her to work....crawling...she humored them for a little while and then us girls moved on to more entertaining activities.

We had some fun playing with the Discovery Toys..she enjoyed them a lot!

Well, all in all things went well. There was an unexpected bath that needed to be taken but she had fun with that too. What a happy little girl. We all had a lot of fun. I am sorry about all the separate videos and pictures but I figured there is probably a Grandma out there somewhere who wouldn't mind seeing this little cutie.

PARLOR IS EVEN HOTTER

Sorry we did not quite get the fireplace operational when 'yule' were home to enjoy it. Dad finally tested the fire cartridges and decided to modify the logs this morning and get it all set. Boy-o-boy is it cozy. Watch til the end during the closeup and hear the crackle. Now Mom may never come out of that room.

Okay, 'yule' just have to come again some year so we can enjoy it.

The Miracle of the Lug Nut

Several weeks ago a lug nut on the Camry was lost. It happened shortly after the spare was put on (due to hole getting ripped in the sidewall of the right front tire ... but that's another story.). The lug nuts are special for the cool wheels on the Camry and do not seat well on the spare tire rim, thus the loss. Being "special", the lug nuts are not easy to replace and not in units of "1". So, Dad has been chagrined about the whole thing. It was particularly on his mind today because he rotated the tires early this morning and checked the brakes and had to decide which would be the underprivileged 4-lug-nut-wheel .Then while hosing down the driveway late this afternoon (it was a mess from the high winds we have had) Dad hosed the leaves away from under the ivy hedge at the end of the driveway. And there was a shining object. No... Yess... No.. Yessss.

The picture that would have been fun to post was Dad leaping up and punching the air - a couple of times, "Yeaaaahhhessss!!" The likelihood of finding the lost lug nut in our own driveway ... when that car drives from Westwood to Cucamongo regularly... is such a wonder, it is certainly just shy of a miracle. No matter what happened the rest of the day it is a GOOD DAY!

Girls Night

I decided that Elizabeth and I needed to spend some girl time together and I wanted to bath her so I combined the two. We had fun.

Yummy! But not quite perfect....yet!

So remember back in August we had Papa Murphy's pizza at our place??? Well, I tried to replicate that! It actually worked out pretty well. The crust was perfect, thanks Creme Sue-ley ......all of the other ingredients were just right......
I just haven't got the sauce perfect yet...but it still was delicious. Honestly it was so close to the original, I was very impressed! (I LOVE THAT CRUST)
Oh and a funny side note....Robbie had to buya small propane/butane torch for his pre-dental class and when he was explaining it to me he said, "The teacher even said we could even use a Creme Sue-ley torch/warmer." I laughed and said, "Robb that would be a Creme brulee torch, Creme Sue-ley is your Mom's blog!" Good times with that strapping young lad!
