Thanks Grandma!!!!

We just arrived home from a wonderful trip to Arizona. Here are the girls in front of Grandma's wonderful place in her fabulous new patio area. We appreciate so much having a wonderful place to be our home base where we were fed in great style, slept in luxurious accomodations and even enjoyed the hot tub. It was quite a trip so we will blog it over a few days to make the trip linger in our hearts and minds. Thanks again GRANDMA!!!

Moose, Ligers, and Polar Bears, Oh My!!!

I have never been to the Bean museum in Provo so I decided that this would be the weekend to do that. The first thing that came to mind was the "museum" where we would feed the ducks in Midway. And I am not a huge fan, it gives me goosebumps. I felt really embarrassed b/c I was jumping at every corners turn and there were 5 year olds braver.

Here I am with this fierce lion, and I am not really acting it took a lot of courage for me to get this close. I was telling Marybeth to take the picture as fast as see could. I just kept thinking that they would come to life and eat me up.Marybeth was so Brave!! I told her that I didn't want to get any where close to that thing. I don't care if they are more stuffed than your average thanksgiving turkey it is just too close for comfort, however here she is next to a rather large moose. The computer is being slow so there are more pictures to come

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to the best human Male on the face of the earth. I can not put into words how greatful I am to be a part of such a great family headed by such a wonderful Father. I am glad Heavenly Father didn't want my life to be a trial by having parents that were not the best. In stead he decided to have you teach me all that I need to know and then face those trials on my own. You are so great in all that you do. You put all men to shame in being Super dad, Dr. Cornwall, Mr. Home Improvement, Bishop Cornwall, The funniest guy on this side of the Mississippi and the other, and everything else that I haven't mentioned. I am so glad that I have been able to be a part of your life and that I have been able to get so much from it that I have. I hope that you have had a wonderful Birthday. I realized that there could be those that read this blog that are not members of the family so I won't write any embarrassing stories or anything like that. I just want you to know that I love you and I want to wish you a very happy Birthday. And thank you for all that you have done for me as well as everyone else that you have touched. I know last year or the year before I got you pez and I tried to find the Ice age this time but you will have to settle for a picture of me holding this sign for you for your Birthday instead. Best of wishes I love you. Love Robblog

Memo from Mesa

Hi family!!! I am sitting at Grandma Hodgkinson's computer showing her the update on our family. Dad of course got her all hooked up so that we are now on her favorites and she can check up on us all the time. Make sure that you make some posts so that she can keep up to date on the Cornwalls. This might be all for now until we get home and can post all the pictures that we take this weekend.

Chronicles of Clifton

As parents and students entered the vernerable Clifton auditorium they where filled with a sense of wonder and anticipation at the scene: an old, stately and somehow strange, oak wardrobe occupied center stage, flanked by a forest of snowflocked trees and greenery and twinkling lights. Suddenly it got dark like the early evening before a storm, except for the glow of an solitary light pole uniquely out of place in the scene.

A mystical musical tune was heard which crescendo'd until the wardrobe door opened and out stepped 4 children in awe of their surroundings. Soon they were greeted and introduced to the Land of Clifton by a pan, half boy half beast (and ALL Andy Hoopes). He warned them of the approaching white witch.

The white witch, displeased with the land of Clifton was debated by a regal lion who soon appeared and introduced the fine accomplishments of the land. One such was a daughter of Eve, Sarah Cornwall who had conquered the rube goldberg quest.

Then came the surprise of the evening, with the new Aslan award for unmatched sacrifice and giving for the good of the all the inhabitants of the land of Clifton. The principal read a long bio of the Aslan award winner, recognising her 3 boys and 3 girls who themselves were Cubs in the land of Clifton. The recognition was well deserved and the applause much.

Mom, then was a presenter herself of an award. All then were invited to the White witch's basement castle for refreshments. All who know and are related to Mom can be proud and happy for how much she is loved and how much she has given to make the Land of Clifton good.

Have a good trip and if you don't have a good trip - Have A Great Trip!!!!

Katie - we are going to miss your posts, we are going to miss your comments, but we hope that you have a great time on the Young Ambassador Tour to Arizona and that you take tons and tons of pictures and that when you get back we can enjoy many posts of your adventures.

Breakfast Anyone?

Today was the semi-annual Sue, Sue and Roseann Breakfast. Sue Zylstra, Roseann Gutierrez and I have been having breakfast twice a year together for many years. We get together for each other's birthdays. We had a lovely visit and wonderful food. They are great women and are an inspiration to me.

That Looks Tastey

We have come to the stage where everything ends up in Paisley's mouth. Luckily that toy is supposed to go in her mouth. She isn't a pro yet at getting things in her mouth so she often ends up crying with frustration. She sure is cute while she is trying though!

Wagon 101

Okay, this picture was supposed to be at the bottom, but that didn't quite work out, so just imagine that this at the bottom with a caption that says something to the effect of: Watch out, here comes a hot mamma in an even hotter car!! or something like that!!
Mom said that I can't drive around my baby until she's properly cleaned and checked up. I hosed down and wiped up, and when I thought I was done, Dad decided to put on a few finishing touches;
An "eye-sore" was how he categorized the unsightly wear on the car's door rims. All of that was spray-painted away, but not until after MUCH taping and securing, as seen below.
After that little project, it was time for the real business-getting to know which fluids to check when. There's the cooling, steering, oil, transmission, and of course, gas!
Then, the ol' tires needed to be checked. Dad let me try my hand at testing the tire pressure, and they were all a little bit low, so we pumped 'em up.
See, Dad let me do something!

YOUNG AMBASSADORS 2006
De Jong Concert Hall

this year including
Katie Cornwall

It sure was a fun weekend performing on the De Jong Concert Hall Stage. I can now say I have performed with the Young Ambassadors at BYU and that I have sung a solo on that stage. It will be a highlight of my BYU career. I took lots of pictures but on the last night I realized I didn't have any of me so here are a few that I took the last night. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for this wonderful opportunity and it has only just begun because we leave for Arizona on Thursday. Oh I can't wait to blog pictures from that.

Sunday Afternoon With Grandpa

Our home was graced with Grandpa for a luscious roast beef and potatoes dinner, with hot rolls and homemade jam. Then fresh baked cookies (see previous silly post) and ice cream for dessert. Our family is blessed with a wonderful patriarch.

One of the things we talked about (after the upcoming trip to Arizona) is the Tab. Choir broadcast on April 30th. It will be the 4000th broadcast. The choir has offered a "Cornwall" pew up front. I understand they will honor families of those previously associated with the Choir. Great-grandpa Cornwall did the first 23 years of broadcasts (the first 1000+). Mom and I told him we would like a couple of the Cornwall seats. We will be up for Jason's graduation excercises the couple of days before. That certainly timed out nicely, eh?

Hot Cookies Anyone???

Yes, it's Sunday afternoon and time to make Hillary's Cookies. I remember many a time bringing a hot cookie up to Katie while she was reading her scriptures and writing in her journal. I wish I could do that to you snowy Provoites, or my favorite Palmdalites - or to speed them to Ozark. We are missing all of you today - especially thinking about being at the cabin last Sunday. Can hardly wait to be with you and bake for you again!!!!

Confered by Satelite

We just got back from Stake Conf. It was a satelite broadcast from Salt Lake that went to 41 So. Calif. Stakes. So Jason & Stefanie, and Grandpa C., and Chris and Janell all had the same conference with Pres. Monson and Elder Perry (and wife) and Elder Koelliker of the 70 (and wife). Oh, the Church is a marvelous organization of which to be a part.
I want to just mention the points from Elder Perry's talk. He spoke on the scripture admonishing us to be a "peculiar people" focusing on one of the definitions of peculiar being
"distinctive". Some try so hard to fit into the ways and the look of the world. The ways LDS should be distinctive from the world be counseled are: 1)In our belief in Jesus Christ and the power of the atonement, 2) The language we use --- and the profane words we don't use, 3) Our integrity --- holding to high standards, 4) Our homes should reflect our being distinctive --- included in our homes should be: a) Priesthood, b) Mother's Role upheld, c) Prayer, d) Study of the Scriptures, e) Learning to work, play and serve. As we make ourselves distinctive in following our own LDS standards, Elder Perry promised the Lord will pour out his blessings upon us.

Anyone Know What Temple That Is???

Anyone recognize this temple??? Well Brendan Hurtado is going to become very familiar with this temple because he got his mission call yesterday and is going to the Washington Spokane Mission. He will report to the MTC on April 19th (his mom's birthday). When I said - hey that is your mom's birthday he replied - I know, now I don't have to give her a present. His worthiness, his willingness, his goodness, is the best present he could ever give her. Brendan - we are so excited for you and proud of you.

I'm A Part of That!!!

We just got home from the high school's fundraiser for the spring musical. The name of the show was "Songs From Shows Mr. Segal Can't Do At MHS". Rachel did an outstanding job with two solos - What I Did For Love and I'm A Part of That. She also was in all the groups numbers and in a quartet doing a song called "Billy." The songs came from shows that were inappropriate to do or from songs where the casts were small or male dominated. Mr. Segal was at the piano and Mrs. Federoff made things sound fantastic with her percussion section. Mr. Segal even had a solo to start the second act and wrote and said a lot of the chit chat between sets. There were a lot of folks there and hopefully some money was raised.

Here is the entire musical review cast - which just happen to be the entire cast of Into the Woods which will be on the MHS Stage starting on May 17th.

Proud Dad!!

Proud mom!!!

WATCH OUT!! Girl in Green DRIVING(?) the Shag Machine

Yesiree, it's true, Rachel Cornwall has become the newest licensed driver of the Cornwall family.
Here I am waiting in the ridiculously long and inefficient line.
Here I am after I passed with thirteen. I got Mr. Jolly Holiday to drive with, luckily. (I have been wondering whether I would have passed without his generosity!)
Mom made me take a picture in front of all the depressed looking people waiting for their number to be called. I felt pretty darn silly, but considering I will never ever see them again, it's okay.
Once we got home I started my warm-up for my new baby, the shag, and hopefully I won't have to be in competition with Lauren Miramonte's accident TWO HOURS after she got her license.
Finally mom doesn't have to drive me everywhere. It's official!! (Even though I do have to wait 4-6 weeks for my real card. )

Fallin in Love

One of the very fun things that we did on our trip to Utah was to watch the Music Dance Theater Showcase performance in the Madsen Recital Hall in the Harris Fine Arts Center. The theme of the evening was Fallin'in Love and all the numbers coordinated with the theme. Katie was in three numbers - the opening number - C'mon Everybody (pictures below), a love medley that she put together with two other girls and the closing number Fallin in Love with You. Katie has told us about these shows for years and we were excited to get to see one and get to see Katie in one - she was fantastic!!! We don't get to hear her sing enough. It was a great night of entertainment. Dad caught the trio on tape if anyone would like to see it. We are feeling sad about not being in the DeJong Concert Hall the next few nights and afternoon to see her in "The Circle of Life". We will just have to be patient until we see her on FEBRUARY 27!!!!!

Next: After an ICE AGE Vacation

Fittingly enough, after our recent adventure in the snow, is a new PEZ series. ICE AGE! Who is going to find this first to so it can be added to the Cornwall collection?

Snow Bunnies

Look at these beautiful snow bunnies. They are some tough amazing women!!! Thanks for a great vacation.

It Was A Cold First Night!!!

After Katie's Concert on Friday night, Mom, Dad, Robb, Marybeth, Rachel and Sarah headed back to the cabin. The exciting thing about this trip was watching the temperature change on the car thermometer. It kept dropping and dropping and dropping. The low point was -7 degrees as we were getting close to the cabin. Our car is always a few degrees high - so dad and I predicted that it was probably right around -10. We only had a couple of flashlights - but the moon really saved us as we walked into the cabin. It gave a whole new meaning to "The moon on the crest of the new fallen snow gave a luster of midday to objects below". It was really light although some of us were keeping our heads down just hoping we could walk that far in the cold. Some of us were worrying about bears grabbing us and carrying us into the forest without a trace, some of us were pumping the manual flashlight (one of the two). When we got to the cabin it was still very very cold. Fortunately we made it through the night with the help of electric blankets (not for Robb) and by Sunday afternoon we were so hot we told dad to turn off the heater. Oh what a difference a few days make.
