Happy Birthday

I know it's not technically Grandma's birthday anymore, but I figure-hey who doesn't want to extend their birthday by an hour or two?

I love you so so much Grandma!

Dancing in the Sun!

Today, Jared Whipple and I hit the slopes. He on skis, me on the board. It was a beautiful day to be on the mountain.  We had fun trying to keep up with each other.

DAD'S CORNY DAY

Only one, (1, un, uno, um) family member was around 336 to enjoy Dad's day of celebration in person - so the blog will share the highlights for one and all (almost as good as being there).
The birthday cheer actually started off the evening before -
  • Jason called to be the first with wishes (he needed to fly to Canada today so it would not be practical for him to call today... what a thoughtful boy.)
  • Under Dad's pillow was a pile of fun envelopes. One to open every hour (24). They contained very thoughtful notes and sentiments which mom had requisitioned from Dad's family and friends.
  • Sarah "woke-up" Dad with the traditional birthday parade, which featured the traditional petunias - the summer annuals for the front.
  • Then Sarah treated Dad to toast-poached eggs, on the red plate for breakfast.
  • Dad enjoyed Rachel's post and Robbie's post trumpeting the day.
  • On the drive to work Katie and Dallin called to sing and wish happiness on the day.
  • After work Dad was greeted with lighted birthday candle cupcakes from Sarah.
  • Robbie & Marybeth called with wishes and good cheer.
  • Dad opened some very thoughtful cards from Grandma and Rachel.
  • Then it was off to a dinner date with Sarah at - Yes Mom, we got the bread....
  • After dinner, Sarah and Dad walked over to a store a few shops over to see if the day would be perfected even more (see Cornwalls2).
  • Returning to 336 we enjoyed the cupcakes (woah Mom, they really ARE great!)
  • Rachel called with a final round of love and kindness.
  • Janice brought over the final fun gift and sweet card of the day -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD
Marybeth and I wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday. You have been great to the both of us over the years and we are lucky to have you around. Thank you for all the fun things you do. Thank you for that fun trip to FL and having a son that would be called there.
Thank you for coming from a great family, and inheriting rights to such a fun cabin where we have so many fond memories. You have always been a very hard worker and wanting to give back, and it shows, both at the cabin and in the Southern California area.

Ans thanks for loving Marybeth and I so much. We really feel your love for us and it has started from the very beginning. You are the best DAD. We hope you have a very great day.

Singing in the Rain

We have had several rainy days which has been rare this winter. Elizabeth has loved it. She loves to splash in the puddles. She doesn't even mind getting wet.
Tonight was Spotlight Vocal Studios first Student Recital. We held it in conjunction with the activity day girls since both of my students are in our ward. It was a wonderful evening. I felt very proud as a teacher.
I made note shaped cookies for refreshments and yes I used some of my cake decorating knowledge.Isabelle, Me, and McKenna

I ran across this today and loved it!!

FOREVER STRONG

Last night, for a special Family Home Evening Grandpa C. treated Mom, Dad and Sarah to a movie and a Ricks Burger. The L.A. Chapter of the BYU School of Business Management sponsored the showing of Forever Stong.

The movie is based on the true story(s) of the Highland Rugby (HR) team (in Salt Lake). HR's record is 391 wins, 9 losses and 17 national championships. Highland is the only team in the country to have appeared in the finals of every national championship ever held.

So Tired

This is Paisley after quiet time has ended! I didn't think that quiet time was supposed to exhaust a child, but hey, she plays hard. At our home Paisley doesn't have to sleep at quiet time she just has to stay in her room. She sometimes has trouble sleeping at night if she has a nap during the day so I don't enforce a nap. Some times she sleeps, sometimes she plays. Today she was playing and when it was time to get her she had just decided she was tired and wanted to lay down. We came downstairs and I had put on a movie for her to watch for a couple minutes while I was putting dinner in the oven and this is what I came downstairs to. I think this is so funny!! Cute girl!

Last Saturday

It was my friend Jordan's birthday, so we decided to surprise him by taking him to breakfast at Magelby's Fresh!
First, his roommate woke him up, let him go to the bathroom, then blindfolded him and deposited him a vehicle. When the blindfold came off, we were all sitting there and yelled surprise! {The girl sitting between Sam and Hilary is Haley, she just moved into our ward and I like her a lot.}
That night we had a bi-ward dance. It was wicked fun. Our ever-faithful 2nd counselor had his camera, and although I tried to avoid him, he still captured the following:
What a fun fun life it is around here!
 {and may I just say that I think this picture shows how much my hair has grown . . . and that I need to get a haircut.}

Enjoying a nice warm day!!!

Well yesterday gave us hope for spring. Unlike how it looks in California, you can't tell that it is spring, however it did feel like it a little bit yesterday. So what do you do when it is nice? Take some pictures and have a picnic
I took the liberty of using Mb's new Photoshop Lightroom 2 that she got from me for Christmas. I don't know how some of these look, but if they look amazing it is because Mabe helped me. Here is a cute little girl enjoying her sandwich.
So on our picnic we had a sandwich, pretzel gold fish, and some M&M's. This is the sandwich that was passed on to us by Jason and Stefanie that they had when Mom and Dad were in town in Kansas. They told us it is one of their favorite sandwiches and it is becoming one of ours as well.
Mabe was taking some awesome shots, this was one of them with the Mountains in the background.
This is a perfect spot that we found to be able to sit on the branch of the tree. The "lost and found" tripod came in handy yet again. (I think it is a little blurry b/c I played with it too much)
You have no idea how happy I was to be able to wear sandals yesterday. It made my day. I used to hate "things" in between my toes, now it hardly seems comfy unless "it" is there.
We even cleaned up the garage. We have been mainly using it for just storage and throwing things in there anywhere and everywhere. But we managed to put everything at the foot of the garage and were able to fit in Mb's car.
As you can see it is a pretty tight fit, but I was excited that we were able to fit it in. We thought that it was perfect timing since the snowy season is almost over. But at least we know that we have a car that can fit.
The Jeep has been out of commission for the last couple of months, Since we finalized insurance we decided it was time to get her up and running again. It didn't take long to remember how much I love that car. We had to jump it and we drove around a little. I felt like a new man driving around with the windows down and Sandals on my feet. It was all topped off with a hot girl sitting at my side, nothing seemed quite as perfect at that time.
I know what you are saying. Who is that studd in that picture. Yes it is me. If I did more with facebook than simply have an account, you better believe that that would adorn my profile. It may never make it there, but I thought it needed to be displayed in some form or another. It was a very good day and we are happy to share that day with you.
