Round the World with Paisley

Mom & Dad and the girls had a 'memoriable' day Monday when we stopped in Palmdale and visited with Jason, Stefanie and Miss Paisley Ann - world travelers having just returned from Asia. We were just as bad as the Koreans all fawning over cute, cute Paisley. So glad they are all home safe. (P.S. Don't offer them any rice or raw fish to eat for a long, long time.)

A Curtain Closes

Another curtain closed tonite.
The stage lights dimmed, as did the loud applause.
The songs and dancing
The beauty and bustling
All ended as the curtain slowly shut.
The music and the magic
Echo still in darkened balcony and hall,
As costumes, sets and maps are finally packed away,
While the spot light glimmers bright
In Memory's eyes.
A Spring ago,
An unexpected overture
To join the traveling troupe
And add a voice and spirit to the throng
That touched both ear and heart and soul
A thousand songs have sounded
And a hundred friends have hugged
And laughed and danced upon the stage
In scores of towns
Throughout the listening land.
When the velvet curtain raised
There was displayed a dream –
A hope to be upon that stage –
A dream long budding in a youthful heart
Now blossumed in fully wakened eyes.
Drenched in color, warmth and hue
And bought by sweat and grit and gift
The dream was danced
These nights of spring
As bouquets of life cascaced in the memorable air.
And now the curtain closes
On this fantasy show of shows
Once called a dream
For oh so many nights,
And now grasped fast to hold on for forever.

I am in the NEWS!!!!

I went to field day with Marybeth last week for her school and channel 2 at noon was there and I am in the background wearing a grey t-shirt and khaki cargo shorts. It is at the beginning and kind of fast but I thought I would show it to you. Follow this link and then go to page 15 of the videos and click on the one entitled "Alta Sports Day" . I hope you can find it okay. http://kutv.com/video/?cid=5
Seasons of Love

Sarah and her very cute Centre Stage friends sang Seasons of Love at the Clifton talent show. The show for parents and kind of a dress rehearsal was Wednesday night. That was bad because I had the scripture chase and I had to have dad come with me because he is my statistician. It sounded like it went great Wednesday and all the girls went out to the Monrovian after the show. Fortunately for me they did it again for the student body on Friday morning and I got to see it then. They sounded great and they looked SO CUTE!!!

A S"PEZ"tacular find!!!!
I am not sure if we have these or not, but I bought them anyway. I went to maceys and the duck one was found by Marybeth and so we began to search the store for more. We were only able to walk away with these three out of a set of 5. Let me know if we have these. But they sure look fun.

Now you see 'em . . .
Now you don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it was quite a momentous day at the 336 Cornwalls-Rachel got her braces off! Yippee! There were a lot of people that noticed them at school. (My appointment was at 8:00 this morning, and I got back to school a little after 10:00) But there were a lot of people that had to have seen, maybe they just didn't say anything.
Pretty nice huh! Doctor Jeff commented after seeing them that they moved my rating from a 10 to an 11 (I think that he's still trying to hook me up with his son (Jarron-is that how you spell it?) Anyways, yes I do keep running my tongue over my teeth just to make sure. The lady that actually took them off, Valerie, was really cool, despite her said headache due to being in her first trimester of pregnancy.
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy, I just can't help but smile!!! -NOTE: thanks mom and dad for making it possible!

Monrovia Ward Can STAND It!
Take Me Out to the Ball Game!!!

We had a very fun Family Home Evening. It was the Monrovia Ward at Dodger Stadium. It started out with Dodger Dogs and the fixin's at the ward. Our Activities Committee bought 160 tickets and we sat as a block in the Pavillion and even got our name on Dodger Vision. Dad and I were empty nesters because Rachel and Sarah had rehearsal. Rick Bird supplied us with peanuts and water. (Note to self for next year - kids throw peanuts at each other that they don't buy themselves)

Greetings from Hotel International in Changwon South Korea
Well there is free internet in the lobby so Paisley and I will have to spend our days down here while Jason is at the navy base. I'm sorry if there are a lot of typos but this keyboard is really small and there are korean letters on it. Paisley is handling the time difference pretty well and all the attention. Everyone loves Paisley and they always point and stare and try to get her attention. Yesterday we were out exploring and one man came up to her and pushed her forehead back with his finger so he could see her face. Then he put 1000 won under her bib and said a lot of stuff we didn't understand so we just smiled and nodded. I'm not sure what the fascination with Paisley is (we know she is very cute, but seriously it is out of control, the front desk people in the hotel have taken pictures of her) Anyway we will post again later. Unfortunately we can't put our pictures on because we didn't bring the cables so there will be a picture post later. Bye for now!

Friend to Seminary Breakfast

Yesterday was the annual "Friend to Seminary Breakfast". It was a grand event (except for the fact that I didn't remember to take pictures until half way through the video - so these are pretty weak). I had a great kitchen team - led by the Three Hoopes - Perry, Marcie and Haylie. I had gotten just about the right amount of food - didn't run out of anything - didn't waste too much. The name of our video this year was "The Chronicles of Zarahemla". Iris Arfman was my editor and really did a great job. There were laughs at all the right places. The turnout was wonderful. It is the thing I worry about the most and those kids totally came through. I have a love-hate relationship with this event - and today it is LOVE!!!

Race for the Cure!!!
Here we are in preparation for the big race. For those of you that were not aware, Marybeth and I signed up to run/walk a 5k. It was in SLC and started at the Gateway mall. We both got $20 t-shirts and the opportunity to run as well as support something so great.

There were a "few" people there for the big day, and we even spotted Ronald McDonald, whom we saw participating in the Run. There were so many people there, and there were many survivors as well as those that were going through cancer as they "Race for the Cure!!"
It might be hard to tell but this is me. As we made our way to the beginning of the race we noticed a lot of booths with various "freebies" that they were giving out. One of which happened to be the lovely cloth draped across my forehead, as well as a yogurt smoothie.
Doesn't she look like a very cute runner? I personally think that Marybeth sports the pink cloth better than I could. Marybeth scored some apples and caramel from McDonald, and that was really tasty.
We really cleaned up, we were almost running from booth to booth filling our arms with goodies. I must admit it may not be the best thing right before a race. But I am holding some Sun chips in a pink bag as well as some Smart Start cereal. We were glad we went.
Then the race started. There were so many people we didn't know what to do. We kind of took or time, running and walking, and most of all enjoying the experience. We passed all three mile markers and came to the home stretch. It was so much fun. Here is an action shot of us trying to weave in and out of people. It was a little hard but we tried our very best. We had such a fun time, and hopefully it helped with the future in providing a cure .
