July 30, 2008

Yesterday we had an eventful day. We went to the library and turned in Elizabeth's Summer Reading Chart. She received a certificate and many prizes including a Color book. We also had a picnic at the Library park and watched the ducks. We also went and picked cherries at a ward members house. (I think I am going to make same cherry jam and some cherry cobbler.) This morning I made some raspberry jam for the first time. (I am going to make some homemade rolls and it with the jam. Yummy!!!!)

ALL SHOOK UP!!!

Dad was at the pulsating Pasadena office, Mom was in a ocean-motion Montana, while Sarah was pounding the keys at a piano lesson in Fontana, and Rach was at the vibrating Victorian in Monrovia, .... and we all felt a whole lot of skakin' goin' on at 11:42 am.
All 336ers report all is A'OK with us.
An updated report of today's big story at 5:00pm:
Upon closer inspection it turns out that all is NOT a'ok at 336.
The pez museum took quite a hit.

The "Force" must have been with the Star Wars series. Not one fell to the power of the dark side of today's earthquake.

FHE at the Portland Rose Garden

Last night we took a picnic to the beautiful Rose Garden. We have wanted to go for sometime especially while there were still blossoms. We had a wonderful time walking around smelling the roses. We then had picnic in the outdoor amphitheater. Elizabeth just wanted to go up and down the hill. When she was going down the hill she got going too fast and luckily Dallin was always there to catch her. It is a very romantic spot and I often felt like I was walking around in a garden from one of Jane Austen's novels. We will gladly take anyone who wants to see it.

Flashback

Dad sent me a link to Roger Motzkus's art web site. There are a few pictures of our kids (sorry Jason - I couldn't find yours on the site.) Roger lives in Utah now (much to Rachel's dismay) - but those were really fun days. Check out stock art - black and white. You may want to look under portraits to see someone we know.

Some things just can't wait!

So Robbie and I haven't really posted much about our visit to Kansas, only because its tradition to do a big video at the end of the trip but these videos just need to be shared! We miss Paisley so much and had a great time being with her and her fun parents!

And this one is for Miss Paisley herself. A little game we all enjoyed playing together!

Guess from whence I'm posting...

In my room of course. On my new macbook!!!! It's been pretty crazy, but hey, with the convenience of the net on your bed, from now on, why not post at 4:00 in the morning?J/K. Here's to happy posting!

Jumping for joy

Yesterday we went to "Fly a Kite" Kari got one for her birthday some time ago and never gave it a chance to fly, Yesterday was just that day. The kite was pretty entertaining but there was something that stole the attention.
Dog racing, not the kind you are thinking of. But Harley, the dog, seemed very happy to have some wide open spaces, He was really fast, and I think that I am really fast so I put it to a race. Harley, the person, shown here threw the ball for Harley , the dog , to chase and I didn't need anything to chase. As you can clearly see, it is obvious who won. One of us will think twice before doing that again. (However, I think the better race was Kari, Marybeth, and I. It was another close call.
But I have to say that I enjoyed the picture the most. As most of us were running around like caged dogs, Marybeth was taking some fun shots. I happened to like this one. I did a little editing to it myself. (I don't mind if Marybeth's Portfolio has a few pictures of me in it) Then afterward we went to Dairy Twist and got some ice cream. We had a good time

ANOTHER OPENING, ANOTHER SHOW

The Stake Play OKLAHOMA opened last night. It was wonderful. The house was full. The actors and orchestra (and sound) were spectacular. Here are some clips ... featuring Rachel and Sarah... quickly pieced together of the dress rehearsal Wed. night. They are from the second half of the show. The previous night I had run out of memory card. By Wed. we had the backdrop, etc...

Sorry you all can't be here. The videos do not do it justice in the least. The girls are really, really, really fun to watch!!!!!

Our UNanniversary!!!

About a year and a half ago (it is not exact, but it is has been about that) we got married, we didn't keep our cake topper but Marybeth didn't want us to miss out.
We went back to visit the place where we had our luncheon, it brought back good memories but it looks like it is closed down.
So Marybeth went back to the place where the cake was ordered and got a new one.
Here is the Cake from our wedding night, and I have no idea how it tastes b/c when we cut it we only got frosting, so I got my chance this week.
Here is the recreation in all its glory, Our cake was a little lopsided when it arrived so Marybeth got the topper for free.
The cake was actually really good, I am disappointed that I didn't get the good stuff that nightWe continued to "recreate" that time a little over a year ago, so we went to Nantasket Beach where we stayed the night after our Wedding night, The funny thing is it was almost as cold as it was then in December, and it is July.

Here is a quick raw clip (no time to edit) of our own Ado Annie from the rehearsal Tuesday night.

My little Bread Maker

Elizabeth is a great helper in the kitchen. (Thanks for the apron mom.) She loves to stand on a chair and "help" mom. We finally made some homemade whole wheat bread with wheat from my wheat grinder. I watched Dallin's mom make some in Utah and this time the dough rose and it tastes pretty good. Elizabeth really liked the bread dough.

Elizabeth is fascinated with dish towels. She loves to grab the towel from the fridge and walk around with it on her head. It is so funny especially when she tries to walk around but can't really see. She also like to grab clothes and put them on her head or around her neck.

Another of Elizabeth's fascinations is her belly button, well actually mine and hers. She loves to touch and play with my belly button. The other day I showed her her belly button and the look on her face was so funny. It was like she was saying "Mom, you never told me I had one."

In Utah Elizabeth learned how to climb on top of things. So when we got home she started experimenting with everything in our apartment. She loves to play with this chest and now she has learned how to throw everything off of it so she can climb on top and have her own little seat.

Since we have been home from Utah I have tried to take Elizabeth to a park every day. She loves this little tube. She can crawl through it and she just laughs and laughs. She prefers climbing up the slide then going down. She can go down the slide all by herself. My favorite is to see her scoot far enough that she begins to slide. Without fail she will play for 5-10 minutes and then she will decided she is done and walk away from the playground. She looks like a little toddler.

Andersons in Utah

Finally here is the video of our trip to Utah. We hope you enjoy.

Our Trip to New York!

The Car ride was about 7 hours - it contained two drama queens.

Our Campground was very nice, and very close to the playground.
There was a nice, warm lake to swim in. I was in there just long enough to get this picture taken. I kept feeling weeds against my legs - not too comfy.
Heres my Dad cooking in the dutch oven.
Heres our Tent!
We saw the Hill Cumorah Pageant. It was very fun.
One of these things is not the same...

Catie and Robbie getting ready for dinner.
The tandem- we rode it around the campsite. Robbie and I have also been trying to go on bike-rides everyday. It was a very fun trip. We ate Ice cream at a place we visited often for the three weeks when we were in the pageant. There small size is 4 scoops and very cheap. It is a great place...so if you are every in Palmyra let me know. We also saw the Temple, Joseph Smiths home and the grove. It was an excellent weekend.
