With a rare open Saturday, dad spent the day taking out the dead apricot tree (otherwise known as the ladder to the reservoir - he did it with his bare hands) and putting in the pluot tree we gave him for his birthday. I watched all day as this project progressed. I didn't want to lose that beautiful ivy overhang - but as you can see, the finished product looks great - perfectly positioned and now all we have to do is wait for the fruit - YUM!!!

I had two pieces in the show. The first won an honorable mention. It is a photo triptych.

Look how cool he is!! How did I live without this guy for any amount of time? I can'te even begin to describe the millions of reasons why he is so perfect for me. I feel so blessed to have such a sweet, genuine, strong, worthy, fun, kind, handsome, smart, energetic, funny, cuddly, faithful, honest, laid back, forgiving, gentle etc.etc.etc.etc. (I could go on forever) terrific husband!!!! Oh I love him!! Happy Birthday Sweetie!!"Double Negative is a piece of land art located in the Moapa Valley on Mormon Mesa (or Virgin River Mesa) near Overton, Nevada. Double Negative was completed in 1969 by the artist Michael Heizer.
The work consists of a long trench in the earth, 30 feet (9.1 m) wide, 50 feet (15 m) deep, and 1,500 feet (460 m) long, created by the displacement of 240,000 tons of earth. Two trenches straddle either side of a natural canyon (into which the excavated material was dumped). The "negative" in the title thus refers in part to both the natural and man-made negative space that constitutes the work. The work essentially consists of what is not there, what has been displaced" (Wikipedia).
