It's Nice To Stair...

After several years of worn-out-ness and 15 months after ordering a new runner for the stair and after 13 months of candy cane stripe duct tape (mom has been so patient) then 10 months after it was delivered the new carpet on the stairs was finally laid on 1/23 &1/24.

The new carpeting job started  by stapling down new pad.

The wood on the edges was refinished 4-5 months ago.  All those dented reminders of a half a dozen pair of little feet ... and not so little feet... going up and down those steps thousands of times over the past 25 years were puttied, sanded and stained away.

If you think it looks nice --- that's nothing compared to how nice in feels going upstairs and downstairs in bare feet.
The video really shows the 4 amazing seams on the winders.

Miss Cornwall

We were so very happy to get a first look at our little girl today! Oh, a sweet little girl. It was a wondrous time getting to see her during the ultrasound. Truth be told, the news took us a little by surprise. It was truly amazing to watch the sonographer measure and monitor Miss Cornwall's development. No words seem quite adequate to describe just how magnificent it was. We are already in love with our little girl.

Space Needle & Seattle Library

No visit to Washington is complete without a trip to Seattle. There are so many cool things to do there.  Our last day seemed to be a good time to go since we we would already be in the area to catch our flight. We decided it was time to have the Space Needle experience. Of course the Tirrells had been there lots and even been to the top. I have even seen it with my own eyes on multiple occasions. But we weren't just going to look at it. Being able to ride the elevator to the top is fairly common knowledge. Something not so well known is Sky City, the restaurant at the top of the structure. Not only are you eating in the sky, but the restaurant rotates so you get a 360° view of georgous Washington. Our lucky weather streak continued that day. The sky was clear enough for a perfect view of our good friend Mt. Rainier.

The food was amazing! Our reservation was for brunch. The flat fee included an appetizer, entree and dessert (FYI: it's a pretty penny just to ride to the top of the Space Needle so a little more spent gives you an amazing meal and a long, comfortable view). We had fun sampling each other's food which there was plenty to go around.

After brunch we took the flight of stairs to the top deck. It was crowded and cold. We missed our cozy spot downstairs. It was still a thrill and the ambiance reminded me of the Empire State Building.

We had some time to spare before our flight so we went to the Seattle Public Library. Having had a conference in Seattle a few years ago, I was familiar with just how cool it was. We wished we lived in Seattle just to visit this building.

In The Media. . . Sorta

Rachel came across a new and interesting web site.  For those who know and love 336 it may be a fun visit.

In the Media

One of the questions for predictions was if anyone in the family would be featured in the media (or something of the like). Does being interviewed for the Verizon blog count?

New Years Eve

Seth was sick on New Years Eve so we had a fun party at home.
Happy 2014

Sick little Seth

Polar Express

I organized for all the Andersons to ride the Polar Express.
Everyone came over to our house for soup and games.  Then we hopped on the Polar Express (Frontrunner.)  We rode to the North Pole (North temPole).  Had hot chocolate then rode back home and everyone received a bell.  It was a very fun and memorable night.

Fun veggie platter

Riding the Heber Creeper

I have many childhood memories of putting pennies on the Heber Creeper track.
 Waiting to board the train.

 Sitting on the train
A bandit boarded the train looking for money but ended up giving our kids chocolate golden coins.  Some of our children were very frightened but overall it was fun.

Christmas at the Andersons

 Hannah 9 Months

Acting out the Nativity with the Andersons on Christmas Eve
 Christmas Morning

Christmas Evening (We loved Hannah's face in each picture.  We couldn't choose one.  We couldn't stop laughing.)
