Mancation.

Last weekend Jared, Connecticut and I had a little "Last Hurrah" trip to California. It was jammed pack with fun and I thought I'd share some photos and videos.

As soon as we got in town we headed to the LA MOCA to see some art. They had a very, very cool graffiti art exhibit.

Right next to the MOCA was the JANM. Jared popped in having served in Japan.

We also went to a Dodgers game. It was quite fun.

We got to go on the field for the firework show. It was awesome.

A little video our experience at the game. Feel free to watch it in HD.

Saturday we went to Make Music Pasadena, a free music festival. We saw this amazing French artist. Here is Connecticut chatting it up with him.

After the concerts we swam and ate at Grandpas with Mom and Dad and then watched the Sandlot.

I was conveniently there for Father's day/M&D's Anniversary.

And it only took 32 years to get plastic wicker-esk chairs!

A great word to learn!

I thought I would share a little video that I took today.  Bennett has been saying this name a lot.  We love it.  He loves looking at the pictures of Jesus that we have on the wall.  Its so cute!

Remembering Melvin J. Hodgkinson today!

Today would have been my dad's 87th birthday. I thought a lot and read a lot about my dad in preparation for my talk on Father's Day. It made me miss him and admire him even more.

Kristen's Senior Recital

Last Friday night Sarah had the opportunity to be in a few of the numbers for Kristen Federoff's Senior Recital. Sarah and Kristen have been friends and on stage together since they were in grade school. My apologies to Kristen on those numbers in which Sarah is on stage as the camera focus's on Sarah. There are snippets of most of the numbers in the recital for those who enjoy this sort of thing (and perhaps as a needed distraction for things that might be bugging them at the moment).

OH MANDY...

Mom & Dad attended Mandy McGlone's wedding to Mark Pierson at the L.A. Temple today. How excited everyone was that these two finally got together - there was an especially fine smile on Mandy's mom's face .
As guests entered the reception at the Seely house this evening they were invited into a "real" photo booth which automatically took a set of photos. One set was glued into the guest book and the other was kept by the guest as a souvenir.

So yesterday we went to a splash park, and there is a playground right next to it. Someone told MB about it and we have driven by numerous times but it just recently opened up. We were very interested to see how Bennett would react.
We had to help him initially to get his feet wet. Lots of times he would walk up to the water and then walk around it and not really want to get wet. As time went on though he would get closer and closer, he would even initiate the contact with the water. It was fun to watch him just walk around in circles touching the water.
As you can see in this picture he could pretty wet. There was a few little fountains that sprayed from the ground then a few others that sprayed down from up above and a few of those got him when he did not expect it. The water was very cold, and it was not hot enough to be refreshing.
The funniest thing was Bennett was walking around and then just sat down. After being on his rear he just sat there for a while watching everyone and just taking a break, it was so funny to watch, because he is mr go go go!!
Mb was brave without having a swimsuit on, she is a fun mom. I don't know if we would say that he loved it, but I think that he really enjoyed it and since it is free99 we plan on going there often. Bennetts own little 7 peaks.
He was by far the smallest walking baby there and he held his own. we had a great time.
Then he had to hit the swings to help him dry off and he always loves the swings.

So here is a little video of some of the clips that we got of him at the park. He didn't seem to do a lot when the camera was on him. But it is fun to see him walk around and get excited. I think at the end of the video Bennett walks right over a fountain that shoots up, that is when Marybeth calls bennett brave, b/c that fountain seems little it would have shot him up into the air, luckily it didn't go off while he walked over it. We love him so much we love every second we have with him.

Jeff & Hannah

Some of you may have heard through the grapevine or may be completely unaware that I have a paid music gig coming up! Hannah Whipple and I are going to be the entertainment for the Graduation Celebration for the August 2011 graduates and their families. How in the world did this happen you ask? Great question. Well, when I went to Seattle for Ben and Shayla Frandsen's wedding, I had the privilege of performing at the groom's dinner with Hannah. Being so musically talented, the Frandsens performed several numbers, but to not dominate the entertainment, they asked the Whipples to also participate. Hannah is the only Whipple confident enough to perform so I was asked first to just accompany on the guitar for a Beatles number or two but then it turned into a duet. In attendance at this event was the Whipple's good family friend Keith Lue who works for BYU Alumni Association and one of his duties is planning the Graduation Celebrations. He was SO impressed by our talent that he called Hannah to request us for the event. We accepted. As the flyer (which I designed) says, it will be held on August 11. We'll be performing for about 1.5 hours total, 1 which will be more background music and .5 a more upbeat, show of sorts. We are SOOO excited. We have been practicing a lot in preparation. It should be fun.

Check it out on the BYU Alumni website here.

For Jason and Stefanie and some other fun...

So in order to throw a little extra luck Jason and Stefanie's way we decided to try out a little gelato shop down the street. We have been eyeing it for months and after getting a little text today I thought what a perfect day to go...in honor of the gelato lovers themselves.

I hadn't anticipated Bennett would participate but clearly he and Robbie had other plans..
He was a little disappointed when I said he was done with gelato for the night!
Oh that Dad of his...what a great listener!  It was very delicious though.  Thats for sure, so you can't blame the guy.
Bennett was really loving thumbing through the Book of Mormon today.  He looked like a little missionary.  Sister Cornwall is inspiring him from far away!

Lastly Bennett turned in his Borders summer reading paper and got a free book, Danny and the Dinosaur.  He was very proud as he was carried out of the store holding it!  Way to Go Bennett!
