brugge!!!

Yup, I took a little trip up to Belgium last weekend. It was short, and nice, but exhausting.
We actually popped up to Antwerp for about 15 minutes because we'd missed a connection, so this is a quick shot of the station there:
When we first got to Brugge (Bruges) we were in a residential area and there was NO ONE around. Suffice it to say we were a bit concerned.
We went to a chocolate museum and got free samples of the chocolat pistache - the belgian specialty; essentially it's chocolate filled up with something delicious. And yes, those are statues made out of chocolate. Go figure.
Once we got to the center of town, we knew it. It's quaint, and oh so busy and full of tourists.
Yes, we had waffles too, but we had to try Belgian fries (they're the ones who invented them, not the french, pas du tout!) I got mine with a tartar sauce and they were go-od.
But we were all kinda feeling it afterward.
Here we are on the way home, sleepy and pumped up with gaufres, frites, et chocolat!

  1. I don't know about the chocolate but those fries look good enough for a trip to Belgium... and with tartar sauce ehhh?
Anyway, Belgum looks lovely, unless you only take photos of that which is quaint and picturesque.

  2. You need to converse with Soeur Luszeck when you return - about your Belgian adventures.

  3. That looked like a really great trip. My favorite picture - the cobblestone street with the package-laden pedestrian, biker and walker. (The picture of the fries - wow)
