Last Friday the seminary students of the Arcadia Stake were treated to an inspiring and informative morningside. Dad was the speaker. He gave a wonderful 40-minute presentation on the "Physical Evidences of the Book of Mormon." The below slides are just a few of the 59 that he presented that morning. He was witty, wise, taught with the spirit and kept close to 60 kids awake (which I had been having trouble with all week). I am hoping for a repeat presentation over the Christmas break.
"Modern" Western poetry has specific form and structure ...
... it is quite different from ancient Middle Eastern poetry which is based on words with PARALLEL meanings, rather than parallel/rhyming sounds.
Perhaps the most interesting form is called Chiasmus, an inverted Parallelism not uncommon in Hebrew writing.
The Book of Mormon contains many of the most interesting, complex and beautiful chiasmus in all of literature.
OH dad! How I wish I could have been there! So many things about middle eastern culture are just so fascinating, and I wish I could have been there to take part and learn from your vast knowledge!
