It was indeed a great day of seminary. I am so excited about this very sweet class and about teaching the Doctrine and Covenants. For those of you checking in from afar - the kids in my class are - Back row - first picture: Anthony Carlson, Juan Rodriquez, Ryan Hokanson, Josh Smith and Kyler Yanamoto. Middle row - Daniel Gutierrez, Lauren Aparicio, our own Rachel (I'M SO EXCITED TO HAVE HER IN MY CLASS!! - SHE WILL BE SUCH A HUGE ASSET TO IT), Chasity Bushnell, April Atherton, Sarah Fiore and Taylor Hoopes, Front Row Jordan Zepeda and Jonathan Escobar. We discussed our class scripture - I Have Learned for Myself. We made the "three-twist dog" balloon animal to learn something for ourselves and then applied that formula to figuring out what Joseph Smith did in Joseph Smith History to come out of the grove and be able to say "I Have Learned For Myself" (Joseph Smith History 1:20). It was a little odd to see Miss Sarah prancing around in the seminary hallway. I am so excited for her - Sister Miramontes is so awesome. We're off to a great start!!
Oh, those lucky Seminary kids. After the first day they will never be able to say, "I never learned anything in Seminary.." They learned how to make a balloon animal! And I am sure there are "buckets full" of other great things that most will learn this coming school year. "Bing!"
ReplyDeleteWow it is hard to believe that all that happened on the first day!!! Thank you so much for labeling the picture b/c there were many I have never seen before, and to be honest even after some of the names were read I was still lost as to who they were and where they came from. This seems like a great year, anytime those "R" kids are in there it always seems to be special, top notch, one of the best around, a year to remember. And this is something "I have learned for myself" Good luck Mom
ReplyDeleteThose kids are so lucky to have mom, who will teach them the gospel and love them as if they were her own child.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! My name is Lauren Aparicio too!!!! Weird! I was googling some past articles I've been featured in and found this site..so odd!
