Providentially a suite just upstairs became available. Mom and Dad did everything except for the one Saturday morning when 3 strong college students were hired to move the heavy stuff. Dad designed the new office accommodations, did the painting, electrical, cabinet remodeling, Herman Miller assembling and oversight while Mom was the move manager, organizer, small-stuff-mover-up-and-down-the-stairs-a thousand-times, and Craig's List administrator to sell-off excess furnishings. Thrown away were dumpsters and dumpsters of accumulated files, plans, junk, old samples, catalogs and old/broken office equipment. Suite 201 is now a very comfortable spot to be ON THE JOB... I expect for the remainder of the life of Cornwall Associates - Architecture.

Wow everything looks great!! I love it. Very tidy and classy! Glad the vinyl worked out- hope it wasn't too tricky to use!!
ReplyDeleteI especially love seeing the photo of papa and great papa Cornwall!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it!!!! You've managed to modernize and update while still maintaining the "vibe" of the old CA office. I know this was SO much work but you pulled it off so beautifully. I really am so impressed. (And the yellow/chartreuse/mustard cabinets look divine.)
ReplyDeleteRachel, I should give you... or at least your short yellow/chartreuse/mustard jacket some credit for the divine cabinets (and the custom, matching, colored tackboard behind the reception desk). P.S. I have added a photo of the abstract art that was handing in great papa's office, which was around the corner of the previous photos. A couple of glazed tiles on the art piece also deserve some credit.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the review... it means a lot. Mom and I enjoy hanging out in our "modern" office a good part of every day.
Dad is a hard working genius (planning, prepping and execution) - that is all I am going to say. Thankful for how hard he works and for his great practice. Looking forward to hanging out with him in the office for a few more years.
ReplyDeleteRachel deserves credit for a well written review. I too am very impressed with the new space. I feel that it gave the architect a chance to reframe his own space after spending so much time helping to define others. I must say that you new office looks almost identical to the former. If I had just seen that photo, I might not have known the difference.
