ON THE JOB at CA

The months of June, July and August were fully focused on moving Cornwall Associates office.  In the time since the beginnings of the firm in California from the early 1970's, the office has moved locations 4 times.  By far the longest stay was the space just moved from. . .25+ years.  All the Cornwall kids had their stint of  being employed to clean the office and all stayed there over night on New Years Eve to see the Rose Parade, just down the street and sell parking spots to visitors to the parade.  All remember Grandpa Cornwall sitting in his spacious office working away.  The time came, with Grandpa gone to move to a space more appropriate to the company's operations.

Providentially a suite just upstairs became available.  Mom and Dad did everything except for the one Saturday morning when 3 strong college students were hired to move the heavy stuff. Dad designed the new office accommodations, did the painting, electrical, cabinet remodeling, Herman Miller assembling and oversight while Mom was the move manager, organizer, small-stuff-mover-up-and-down-the-stairs-a thousand-times, and Craig's List administrator to sell-off excess furnishings.  Thrown away were dumpsters and dumpsters of accumulated files, plans, junk, old samples, catalogs and old/broken office equipment.  Suite 201 is now a very comfortable spot to be ON THE JOB... I expect for the remainder of the life of Cornwall Associates - Architecture.
