LA to Bay

Mom & Dad had the pleasure of being part of Jeff and Reesa's big PCH adventure by driving them up to San Francisco.  The foursome spent a lovely night in a nice hotel in San Carlo - south of S.F. and far from the touristy sites.  Bright and (not so) early Monday morning... after a quick stop at a lock-smith.... the group headed north toward the Golden Gate bridge.
Reesa had never  been to the city by the bay so the group took a route through town, past a few of the sites.

It was fun drive
The initial plan was to have the drop-off on the south end of the bridge.  The ride ACROSS the bridge seemed a lot more storybook so the group headed over the iconic causeway.  (Note:  The north side of the Golden Gate Bridge is the very southern most tip of the Santa Rosa Mission.  Ah-Oh - don't spread that fact!)

It was, in fact, a proverbial San Francisco bay foggy day
At the Vista Point on the Sausalito side of the bay the bikes were assembled, the gear loaded and the side bags, etc... etc.. attached to the frames.
The bikers were ready and eager to go....
Mom and Dad were glad to see them off and document the beginning.
And here they go... the first pedals on their Bay to L.A. bike trek.  (FYI - The bikers were to say afterward that perhaps one of the worst parts of  their journey was riding across the Golden Gate Bridge with the people, the wind, the traffic and all.)

Mom and Dad DROVE across the Golden Gate bridge and continued on their own nice journey down the Pacific Coast Higway - Hwy 1.  The journey went through Half Moon Bay with a peek at the planned Hiker-Biker camp site and all the other lovely places along the way..
Mom and Dad couldn't miss the famous Santa Cruz boardwalk (a.k.a. pier).  The stop included some fun ice cream and people watching
Mom and Dad stayed on PCH until Monterey.  Ah... beautiful Monterey (and memories of a honeymoon 34 years ago).  A fish and chips lunch was had on the Monterey pier overlooking the picturesque boat harbor.  Then the route shot over to Hwy 101, through Santa Barabra and home to 336.
