CORNWALL CAMPING?
Let's see... it wasn't scout camp,... it wasn't girl's camp,... it wasn't Father's & Sons,... and we find the Cornwall Hilton tent pitched in mountains?
It was Mom & Dad on a little get away, who found a great campsite up Angeles Crest... in fact we had our pick of the ENTIRE campground. Because... we were the ONLY campers at the site.
This is the first time Mom has been family camping since she was about 6 years old. Boy, was she a trooper. (Of course the queen size air mattress, with 4 quilts and her own bed pillow helped a lot.)
Dad did most of the cooking... steak and potatoes for dinner on the fire and ....
Sausage, eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast.
After breakfast we went for a little hike up in the rocks for which Horseflats is famous.
It was nice to be in the mountains, at 6000 ft,. during the first day of a 100+ heatwave here in L.A.

I felt totally pampered and that is an amazing feat for "CAMPING"!! Your dad is fun - we had a great time.
ReplyDeleteIs that our coleman stove? I have never seen that either. Looks like so much fun am jealous. You two are sooooo cute.

ReplyDeleteOur good friend, John Hanke loaned us his Coleman stove. Not knowing if Mom would love or hate the experience I did not want to invest in a stove this first (and only?) time.
We almost hestitated to blog the experience, for worry of jealousy in you kids. Unlike Mom, who had to go clear back to age 6 since her last family camping experience, you girls have to go clear back to "forever".
Hot dang that looks fun!!! Why oh why must all the good times roll after we've all moved along?!
ReplyDeleteWhoa Babah! Nice to see the Cornwall Hilton getting some use. That is so much fun, Marybeth and I can't wait for Bennett to move out so we can do fun things like that. (Totally kidding, he is never moving out). You guys sure are fun, this experience could have gone sour but it looks like it was so sweet.
