First Day of Art Class!

Today was my first official day of teaching children's art classes at the Art Institute at Thanksgiving point. I've been going the past couple weeks, but that is with the former teacher. This month is about drawing. Today we started with the most basic drawing called blind contour. It is technique used to develop observation skills. Without looking at your paper, you are supposed to look constantly at the object you are drawing. Many people will look at their paper 90% of the time drawing what they THINK they see rather then what is actually there. A pencil is punctured through a paper plate to ensure the BLIND aspect of the exercise.  It is really fun. Try it.

I had to have a first day picture

It was just her and me and it was lots of fun.

We combined out blind contour and line drawings to make a creature

  1. Whoa Jeffers... I wish I could sign up for your art classes. They look fun and cool. Great looking brochure (too bad the outside didn't show well. It's really nice too.) Glad to hear the first day worked out good.
