The Hills Are Alive With THE SOUND OF MUSIC

We wish that the whole family could have enjoyed what was probably the finest Musical Theater concert to which Mom & Dad have ever been. It was an evening at the Hollywood Bowl hosted by dame Julie Andrews with songs from Rogers and Hammerstein shows in which she has starred. The 2nd act was the premier performance of a children's musical theater program narrated by the host and based on a book written by her as well. It was a rare evening, as Julie Andrews has rarely performed since her (unsuccessful) throat surgery 12 years ago.

It would be best to start the video when you have 20 easy minutes, a comfortable chair and space for songs in your heart. Usually we try and keep the videos we post limited to a few "tastes"... at a comfortably watchable time. Those of you who enjoy this show will probably wish that it would go on even longer.

Best resolution - to play at 'full screen'.

If you have trouble with buffering stalls, play this edition. It's the same video at lower res.

  3. This was such an incredible night. Julie Andrews was amazing, but the five singers were just so fantastic. I have their names so you can find out more about them. Christiane Noll is the red-head soprano and Anne Runolfsson is the brunette. The men were awesome - Kevin Oderkirk and Steven Buntrock were the terrific tenors and Jubilant Sykes was the baritone who sang "If I Loved You". You can google each of them to find out how renowned they are in musical theater. Such a great great night. Thanks for the video dad so we can keep reliving the night.
