WAGON BREATH
The old '89 wagon was O.O.C. (out of commission) the last couple of days of last week. We thought it might be a goner with horrible noises Rachel revealed it was making... so bad not even SHE would drive it - or was it that no one dared drive with her to school?
Dad may have given the old car a few more breaths of life. In looking for the warranty of the brakes Dad came across an old lifetime warranty from 1998 for the power steering pump. The autoparts store honored it so we got a new pump for "free"- labor by Dad. Now the pump doesn't leak and then have the fan belt splash it all over. (But with the new powerful pump ANOTHER leak in a lower hose drips even better now with the greater psi. Oh boy.... so the wagon is still relegated to park on the street.)
It's the brakes that were making all the racket. (Note: Rachel tends to take after one-of-her-parent's driving habit of gun it, stop, gun it, stop, gun it, etc... tough on brakes). So, for about the 6th time, Dad took the autoparts store up on their lifetime warranty on brake pads - labor by Dad... ha! there must be some good reason to keep a car that's older than half your grown children....
So for a little while longer the community will hear the roar of the wagon gunning down the road, gun it, stop, gun it, stop....

Dad, I'm surprised you would be so open with your driving habits on the open blog.
ReplyDeleteOh mom-you're so funny! And I think that I should get credit for noticing the noises {though I don't know who couldn't quite frankly} and that I check the power steering pretty much everyday.
