Ohio

I hope we're not completely done with Thanksgiving joy.

Joe and Alana (Spencer's oldest brother and wife) live in the most beautiful neighborhood, with a gorgeous park just down the street. As we waited for the turkey to cook, we went on a little walk. I am pretty fond of this neighborhood.

I was stuffed . . . I ate so much that everyone left me at the table all alone.
Thanksgiving dinner was not the only tasty thing consumed over the course of the break. Spence and I went to Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream . . . twice. They have flavors like chocolate chili, lavendar, pistachio honey, salty caramel, ugandan vanilla bean. We had a really lovely date both times.
The second time we went was 15 minutes before closing time, but we just sat and ate our float (root beer + salty caramel ice cream) and cone and tried not to leave a mess.

We also ate at Katzingers, a fancy sandwich place with a full deli of gourmet breads and cheeses. We had to go home with a few cheese options of course.

My sandwich was on country bread with gruyére cheese, caramelized onions with a honey dijon sauce. Tasty. Spence got a sandwich full of tasty sausage on rye. He let me have some.
They also have a big barrel of complimentary pickles, and it was decided that baby Jens would have his first taste then and there . . .  he couldn't get enough.
I got to babysit Jens a couple of times, and he's such a sweetie. Spencer had to get some steel-toed boots for his new job, and they fit Jens's full leg just perfectly.

Spencer and I also had the privilege of putting the lights on the good ol' Home Depot tree - it was my very first time! (seeing as some Cornwall traditions exclude certain persons from certain duties . . . )
I wasn't there to put on the decorations, but they are really beautiful.

I'm excited to spend more time in Columbus in the future!

  1. What a nice report on Thanksgiving in Ohio. It appears as picturesque as a Hollywood romance setting in the fall... full of bright shades of orange and red. And the leaves were very fallish too!
