Damien Hirst is a well known artist that uses interesting mediums to create his art. Some are quite exquisite such as the composition above made with real butterflies, while others come off as grotesque and offensive such as the one below entitled Judgement Day.

That's right folks, dead flies. You are wondering, why the heck is Jeff showing us this? Well, for my Aesthetics class, which explores the questions like "What is art?" and "What is beauty?" my group was asked to analyze this piece using our senses (the best we could without personally observing it). Under our teacher's recommendation, we made a video which I would like to share with you. The cast consists of none other then the famous Jessica Day, Karisa (a classmate), and myself. It was very fun to make. Enjoy!

That's pretty creative Jeffrey. Which one of the boys is the real, everyday you?
ReplyDeleteI love your art-of-the-week type posts jeff. They add a cultural flare to our blog that we've been missing since the pez took off on their own path.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your teacher liked it. I liked seeing Jessica Day too.
ReplyDeleteJeff very artistic camera angle. I am glad I never saw the piece of art because I am not a big fan of tons of dead flies. I was trying to imagine what reaction would have been most accurate for me. Great JOB!!!
