A good crowd gathered at Rec. Park to get assignments. (Note Sarah in the purple shirt in the middle of the arch.)Dad and Sarah arrived early enough to get the Christy's donuts, banana & o.j.
Of course we all gathered back at the park for Monrovia Pizza Co. pizza, Wendy's burgers and chili, apples, cookies and lots of cool, clear agua.
Sorry the rest of you kids missed it.
Sorry the rest of you kids missed it.

Look at you hardworking citizens! That is great that you do this every year. It is a fun tradition. Too bad we were watching BYU win!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am indeed excessively jealous that you folks were able to endure physical exertion, get yourselves excessively dirty, and then suffer the pains of resulting soreness.
ReplyDeleteI am particularly jealous that you were able to hang out with some of my favorite people, okay namely Marcie. Tell everyone I miss them!
Hanging out with Marcie was definitely the best part of the day. When we had worked for about 3 1/2 hours and it still looked like we hadn't made a dent, everyone was a little discouraged. She began to say this statement over and over. Look at all the progress we have made - look at all the progress we have made. Her positive mantra is probably one of the things that makes her and the Hoopes so delightful to be around. P.S. - I have some great Taylor stories - one of the things we talked about while we were resting on our shovels. It may have to be a post itself.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mom, that was a very fun part of the morning... looking over at Mom and Sister Hoopes, Mom and Sister Stevenson, Mom and .... leaning on their shovels chatting. Totally JKj Those adies worked very hard and filled hundreds (?) of wheelbarrows of that dry, hard dirt.
