THURSDAY NIGHT: The demolition started at the ceiling - remove plaster and wood lath.
The ceiling plaster is bucketed - 19 for the ceiling

The lath is canned - 4 worth.

Yahoo! - the ceiling is done. (
I wonder how many buckets of plaster dust Dad breathed in. Don't worry he was wearing a mask.)

We stripped away the top ugly brown wall paper under which was a fancy, fancy wallpaper. Under that would be another (the original 1880's?) elegant wall paper and frieze at the top.
FRIDAY NIGHT: The demolition shifted to the walls. Only the plaster on the walls is being removed - about 32 buckets.(The pic is a stitch of 8 separate shots. Note: The above photos are the first with Mom's new camera.)
WOW! that looks like a lot of hard work. Mom, those pictures sure look nice. Thanks for keeping us updated.
ReplyDeleteKids - your dad is a wonder. It sure is fun to be in the thick of things - dust that is (Ha Ha). It is so exciting to see the possibilities for that room and it sure brings back a lot of memories of 336 in it's earlier days!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!! That looks FUN!!! Where are the pictures of the girls? Didn't want to ruin their rep on the blog? Dad you have been working hard. I wish we were down there to lend you a hand or two. The finsihed project looks like it will be better than great. Thank you for keeping us updated.
