We had a wonderful visit with Jeffrey this morning. He called at our 7:00 a.m. I was anticipating, like Christmas, that he might want to three-way with you out-of-staters, but he never mentioned it so I hogged him myself - but I did want to share a couple of his stories. We talked about the depth of his testimony. He compared it to a quilt. (He must get the analogy side of things from HIS DAD!!!). He said before his mission he understood about Joseph Smith, the restoration, the Book of Mormon, Prophets etc, and those were all like squares of a quilt - disjointed, but on his mission it has all come together, giving meaning to each part of the quilt and binding it together with his love and understanding for the Savior and the Atonement. Of course I loved that story - but the second story (these are just two of many many many) we talked about living with Philip, how does he think that is going to go etc. He said that he wasn't exactly sure how it was going to be after two years. He mentioned that Philip's friend, who is a girl. is going to transfer to BYU for the fall (she has been at the Claremont colleges here in California right now). I asked him how he might feel about being a third wheel and he gave the greatest reply of all. "I'm going to find my own wheel!!!" I loved it!!! What a wonderful missionary. He sent me a giant card with a wonderful poem inside and a package of pictures!!! We are so proud of that boy.
Oh, that Jeffers he is a great kid and really has a intellectual mind. I am glad that you were able to start your Mothers Day with an uplifting talk with that cute missionary. It is your last missionary call from Jeff and your last call from a missionary son. Wow!!! Thanks for sharing his insights.
