Robb's Wedding/Trip - DAY THE 3RD

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of our walk to the home of Paul Revere.
On the 28th of December in Twenty 06
We followed the path of the Freedom Trail bricks
From the old Boston Common which is held so dear.

Along this trail there are sites to see
From which grew the cry of liberty
There were speechs of taxes and representation
From Faneuil Hall they rang through the nation,
"Independence from the George across the great sea."
We came to the house of that rider Revere
Who rode through the town in that '75 year
When a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the Old North Church signaled the British did march
And the call went out for all to hear.
We fell in love with the Boston town
With all of it's history, beauty and charm
We bade her goodbye in the twilight hour
From high atop the Customs House tower
Overlooking this city of world renown.

  1. Only our dad would research the meter in Longfellow's poem to make a perfect post for day three. Loved it dad. Thanks for the effort. It was a cold but wonderful day. I fell in love with Boston, loved loved Faneuil Hall and the history.

  2. I loved the extra little tid bits we got from the AAA book. The wonderful hot cider/chocolate along with the cranberry chocolates were also very memorable. However, I enjoyed most the time that was spent just walking and talking. It sure was fun.

  3. I love BOSTON thanks to that fun Liberty Trail, I am a little jealous of Robbie and Marybeth being so close. It made me grateful to all those who dedicated so much to make this country what it is today. Dad, thanks for that last picture. I really think that Dallin is more pleasant to look at then that view although the view was spectacular.

  4. I don't know if I have admitted this verbally, (does blogging count as verbal?) anyway, but the day we spent in downtown Boston was actually my favorite day. Ahhhhhh, swoooon, let's go back!
