WIZARDS, DINOSAURS, GO-BOTS & WATER...

Sarah had a well deserved vacation in California last week. One of the top activities on her California list was a trip to Universal Studios and the brand spanking new Harry Potter Land.

Yeah, that's a fake backdrop.

Most of the time was spent in Hogsmeade, going back again and again and again

The 3 Broomsticks

After the first tour of Harry Potter Land it was time for the quintessential activity - the backlot tour. (By the way the last battle of Agent Carter was fought on the above street.)

There were several 3D experiences on the tour including being in the middle of a Fast and Furious chase, being attacked by King Kong and Jaws and experiencing a So. Cal Earthquake.

They needed a few extras in the show, so mom and dad hopped on!

Actually there wasn't anything the group wanted to do in Krustyland.

Universal is famous for it's super long escalators which transport from the upper lot to the lower lot. This photo shows the 2nd of 3!

The original plan was to have lunch at the 3 Broomsticks in Harry Potter Land, but it had a line going around the block. The Jurassic Cafe was more than satisfactory.

A visit was made to the 3 Broomsticks Restaurant in the afternoon for some 'butter beer' and 'sticky toffee pudding'. (Please note that 'butter beer' closer to creme soda than "beer".)

A Studio visit would not be complete without seeing dog,cat, and bird actors.

One of the funnest (or weirdest) things about a visit to Harry Potter Land are the visitor (from all over the world) who are totally into the scene.  We kept seeing this family (this is just a part) and finally just had to take their photo.   Most also had a wizard wand, picked up at Ollivanders.  (Next visit mom!)

Dad tried to talk mom into picking up one of these in the gift shop to tool around town.
