Mom and Dad visited Rachel and Spencer and the VIP of the weekend, ILO, on a 5 day trip to Columbus. From LAX there was a brief stop in Super Bowl city Denver. Rachel and Ilo did the pickup Friday afternoon at Port Columbus. (Yea, that's what they call their airport). After getting Spencer from work it was straight to the High Street, the hip part of old Columbus called Short North for dinner at the relatively new and hot place to eat - Brassica.
Saturday morning, Mom & Dad, Spencer, Rachel and ILO met up with Spencer's parents at Northstar. This is the restaurant at which Rachel worked after moving to Columbus. It is one of the best dog-gone places ever to eat. The weather had turned 'balmy' so the group sat on the patio. After breakfast Spencer's parents invited the group over to their lovely house. They just moved to Columbus from Milwaukee a few months ago to be near Spencer and Joe, their sons and families. Saturday afternoon Dad and Spencer installed a new security floodlight on Rachel & Spencer's garage.
The center of attention, morning, noon and night was "sweet baby ILO". It was his big weekend and he made the most of it. One of Ilo's favorite places to be is lying on the bed kicking and smiling.
Saturday afternoon was spent getting ready for the 20 people planned to come over after church on Sunday after church. Spencer found a few moments of time, here and there to work on the game he is inventing.
Sunday was the prime-time day of the visit --- ILO's blessing. Rachel constructed Ilo's bonnet and leggings. Mom knit the white cardigan. For photos after the blessing it is really special to be next door to the Columbus temple.
Monday and Tuesday were spent doing some projects around the house. Dad fixed the dripping kitchen faucet, re-ducted the dryer vent, secured the stair handrail, installed the toilet roll holder, custom fit the bathroom light switch plate, but glide tape on the linen drawers, and also quickcrete patched some damaged brick around the fireplace opening and cut-in the wall paint at the recently stripped and refinished window casing in the living room. The "girls" worked on a pattern for a new coat for Rachel. Then it was time to say goodbye Columbus and sweet baby ILO.
