Happy Birthday Bev

We have a lot of ancestors who were born in February, and we will rotate over the years, but every February we will talk about  one of my favorite people - Beverly Rene Smith Hodgkinson.  She was born on a Sunday, February 27, 1927,  at the Cottonwood Maternity Hospital in Murray Utah.  She was the first child of Ilo Leslie Smith and Inez Player Smith.  I asked her when I did her oral history how she got her name. Here are some direct quotes.

"The only thing I can think of is that was the time that Beverly Hills  was being established.   I don’t know if it was the same year, but it must have been pretty popular because I had about five Beverly's in my nursing class and about that many in my high school."  owenbytheway - Beverly Hills was incorporated in 1914 and the famous Beverly Hills Hotel was built in 1912.

I asked her about her middle name Rene

"From my grandmother, Grandma Player.  Her name was Serena and it seems like all my cousins have the middle name of Rene."

In high school she had a nick-name.  All her friends called her Smitty.

We are thankful she was born and for the magnificent example she has been to all of us.  She will be turning 89 on the 27th - HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!
