1213

November days in California are truly heavenly.  We have had summer bleed into September and October the last few years, but November days are amazing.  It was on one of those November days that Shirl and Lenore Cornwall came to California to find a home for their family upon Shirl accepting a new position as the Corporate Architect at Beverly Enterprises.  They went through this home at 1213 Flintridge Circle in La Canada, and even though it was out of their price range, when they got to the back yard and saw the view - well, the rest is history.  Dad (Kent) has talked about some of the trauma of moving as a sophomore in high school.  (Everyone remember his plane journal?)  As I was filing the boxes and boxes of family history items from 1213 I found these two pictures.  I love the picture above. Shirl and Lenore beaming with the new possibilities.  Kent there in body (Kevin didn't even come) but maybe not there with a whole heart.  I love the picture below because you can see just how little the "little kids" were when they moved to California.  After Sister Frandsen's class last week I drove by good 'ole 1213.  We are nearing the year mark of closing the sale and most of the house looks very similar to these pictures.  The entire house is open, bare studs and hardly much progress past the demo and the new studs defining some of the new spaces.  We have seen the plans and know it will be grand, but maybe not as grand as it was for this little troupe of Cornwalls.

  1. What a fun picture of a very exciting time. It will be interesting to see what emotions arise this December, 2015, when I see the home I've known for 47 years changed by the new owners.

  2. These photos are true gems. I've heard so much about this big move for the Shirl and Lenore Cornwall family, but I enjoyed being able to actually see what that looked like. It was surprising to see the three car garage in transition to bedrooms. Dad, you are awesome. Love the specs and the outfit. What a good son you were, a Nephi following his father away from your precious home and where the people of God dwelt. But eventually you were led to the promised land.

  3. Ah... I suppose all teenagers, except perhaps THE Nephi, had their moody moments.
