Mom dropped Dad off at LAX for the long flight on Norwegian Air. The plan was for Sarah to fly the couple of hours from Madrid and Dad fly the 10 1/2 hours from Los Angeles and meet at Gatwick Airport south of London. All went jolly good (even w/o cell phones). Sarah was waiting for Dad at the top of the escalator just past Customs. The Gatwick to London train was taken, crossing the River Thames then catching a tube/underground/subway to Plaistow, east of downtown where an Airbnb was reserved for the week. Every day Dad and Sarah walked to and from the Plaistow tube stop to get to and from the day's events. The room was in a row house. The two had the front room with the bay window, a nice kitchen to share, 1 1/2 baths and warm beds with comforters. Up the road was a little grocer where they bought a few things for a simple breakfast, then off to 6 days of adventure.

Once settled in the flat Sarah and Dad took right off, catching the tube to the West End... where the best theater in the world is shown. Sarah had gotten tickets for Bend It Like Beckham. The musical is based on the movie of the same title. It happened to be a slow Monday night so their back row balcony economy seats were upgraded the eighth row, on the floor to fill in some empty spaces. It was a blast! I can hardly wait for the posts to commence. My favorite picture is the train going over the River Thames. Glad you were able to have some Weetabix dad. Glad you two are home but I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your week.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad to see that Weetabix was still a popular British breakfast cereal. I lived on that 40 years ago. Gotta' have my Weetabix. The posts have commenced.
ReplyDeleteWhy was this not a family reunion? I think we all want to go for some tube rides, theater at the West End and some Weetabix.
ReplyDeleteI love so much about this. Sarah looks so darling, dad looks like a renowned traveler; your flat looks totally awesome and cozy and local; and I can't wait to see everything else! (Also, the debut of the dad-selfie was a long time coming.)
