Can you find
John Lees Sr. on the fan? His is the great grandfather of Charles Frederick Player that we highlighted last week, the maternal line of my mom and
MY great great great great grandfather. Below is his picture. He joined the church in England shortly after he was married and it seems that his main career for many years was getting his family to Salt Lake City - a full time job. We don't know if he was a teamster before he got to Nauvoo, or whether his trek across the West forged him into being a teamster, but his history says that since he was a teamster he drove the cattle hauling the foundation stones from the quarry to the temple ground where they were placed for the stone cutters to fit them for the foundation. He worked on the temple until it was completed.
John Lees Jr. came with his family to the Salt Lake Valley. He started off helping his dad at the temple, but settled into his permanent job working in the tithing office as a butcher. I didn't know you needed a butcher in the tithing office, but it would be expected when you receiving tithing in kind.
