Wendy's First Birthday: The Party

We had a little get together to celebrate Wendy's first birthday with our family on her actual birthday. But before the party we had a parade. As per Cornwall family tradition, we woke Wendy up with balloons and presents (the balloons were an addition for us). It was pretty fun for all of us, probably the most fun for Jeff and I, to have Wendy open presents. She loved the birthday cards and was relatively interested in her gifts. She had fun reading her new books and testing out her new shoes.

We continued celebrating in the early evening with a little family gathering. The Andersons were kind enough to host the festivities in their lovely backyard. It was a most pleasant evening with the most pleasant of company. It was so wonderful to spend time with our dear family and loved ones. We loved getting to chat with everyone, although we wish we could have spent a full hour (and then some) with each person to catch up on life. Wendy is one lucky girl to have such lovely people to celebrate with. It was a fun evening watching Wendy pick at her cake with her dainty hands, opening presents on the lawn (which included her favorite: lots of books), and playing "Pin the Party Hat on Wendy". We would like to express great thanks to our friend Clark who took many of the photos during the celebration.

It has been a year full of adventures, discovery and many "firsts". We couldn't be more grateful to have the chance to celebrate Wendy's first birthday with such a great bunch. We love our sweet little girl so much! She has brought a light into our home that seems to grow brighter every day she is there. Jeff and I can't deny that we remember life without Wendy, but we would never want to go back. She is ours and we are hers, forever. We are so grateful for this first year, and know the years to come will only bring more happy times.
