Elementary Art Teacher of the Year

Our very own Jeffrey Cornwall, commonly referred to as "Mr. Cornwall" at his school, received the honored title as Utah's Elementary Art Teacher of the Year last week at the UAEA conference. He had a few of his biggest fans in the audience, including his devoted parents who drove over 350 miles (one way) to see him receive his award. It was a special occasion to see Jeff be recognized for his dedication in the art classroom. What a fun moment it was to see him walk across the stage! There is no one better to have received this award. He is doing some really amazing things in regards to helping the students learn, explore and discover in countless mediums. The hours he spends planning, researching and conceptualizing are immeasurable. The culmination of each semester is the school-wide art show, in which each student has 1-2 artworks displayed (consider that there are about 600 students and you realize how many pieces that is). See the most recent art shows documented here and here. We are so proud of everything Jeff is doing in the art education world, and we are excited to see what he thinks up in the coming years.

  2. One of the great joys of life is the occasion of a parent observing the success and accomplishment of their child. It is particularly enjoyable when that success is recognized and acknowledged by others. Such was last weekend when mom and I traveled to beautiful downtown Hurricane, UT to see Jeff receive his Educator of the Year award. On top of that it was fun to hang out with Reesa and Wendy. So proud of you Jeff of the great job your are doing... and we are proud of you getting an award for it.
