Sarah was telling me the other day of a summer camp that she was applying for this summer. It is located in New Mexico and sounded really great. I told her to send me the link so that I could check it out. It turns out it is for Philmont Scout Camp. I had gone there as a seven-year old. My dad was a member of a Stake Presidency and was going there to be scout certified. Sarah - that could be you in the above picture. (How could it be so cold in New Mexico in July???) I don't remember anything about the trip, except from what my folks have told me. Apparently, there had been an extensive flood a few days before we left. There had been so much damage they weren't sure they were going to hold camp. They did, but there was no potable water. As a seven year old it didn't bother me at all - but I guess it was a big thing for people who liked to drink water, use the bathroom or shower.
The picture below is the day I got interviewed to be baptized. I think our bishop took the picture. The t-shirt was my souvenir from the trip - but I guess I thought that shirt was special enough to have my baptism interview in it!!

These photos are so great. It awesome that you grew up in that era. I love periodic clothing. That camp leader looks like one fun woman. I also love the shirt at the baptismal interview. Grandpa reminds me of Sean Connery's James Bond.
ReplyDeleteI would have picked her as the cutest of the bunch and the girl for me even when she was seven.
