This year Spencer and I decided to broaden our depth as Halloween characters, and focused on two heroes of a book we all love . . . or at least have heard of.
We went as Scout Finch and Boo Radley.

The best part about our costumes was being able to cut/bleach our hair. It was also an excuse to push some house projects; it ended up just being an excuse to vacuum up plaster dust and hair all in one day. (And hopefully the bathroom will be worthy of a post soon enough.)
We were out of town for our ward Halloween party, but we threw a party of our own! Spencer's parents are in town and helped out a ton, but we had a lot of fun executing a slightly spooky party.

It's a good thing we don't live close to you guys! Some of us in this house don't like scary things like food that looks like hearts! Haha you guys look the part of the mockingbird characters. Way to utilize and adjust your own hairstyles. I can't wait to see more house pictures!
ReplyDeleteThose characters and costumes... you killed 'em.

Your party spread looks horribly wonderful.
Oh Scout and Boo - That is a real commitment to a Halloween Costume - and you both look fantastic. I appreciated the comparison photo since the movie characters weren't fresh in my memory. I might want a color picture of Spencer - just to check out the detail - and Rachel - you look beautiful in any haircut. For me though - it was all about the food and the presentation of the food. Rachel and I have been discussing the food possibilities for weeks. The hearts looked deliciously bloody - Great Work!!! How did they taste this round???? Red apples - nice touch. Were the puff pastries on the right - and what was in the gauze. Don't leave out any of the details. Parcel Torte - I wish I was in Columbus for a taste right now. The raspberry glaze gave it a ghoulish look. The buffet table was so amazing - beautiful, but eerie. The candles was genius and the candle holders - oh you are a clever girl (and guy if Spencer helped you). Thank you for posting this amazing spread and costumes.
ReplyDeleteWell done you two. I have been quite anxious to see what you came up with and you did not disappoint. The only thing I heard about your costumes was that they were a bit obscure. Yes, they're obscure but that is what makes them so fantastic. Rachel, you look perfectly childish in those overalls and chopped bangs. Spencer, I've always thought you looked strange without glasses and that element is heightened in the creepy and misunderstood representation of Boo Radley. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteWay to commit to your characters! You two look fabulous. I love that you used this as an excuse to make over your looks. Rachel, the chopped hair is so cute and Spencer, you always look great with that bleached 'do.
ReplyDeleteThe spread for your party looks magnificent, I wish I could have been there to experience it for myself. I'm with Marybeth, I can't wait for more house photos to see what you're doing with the place!
I am glad that you were able to have some fun/spooky Halloween festivities. Your Halloween costumes/characters were a great finishing touch to Halloween 2014.
