Elizabeth Buckley Lees and John Lees, Sr.

Elizabeth (Betty) Buckley was born on 7 May 1803 in Dunkinfield village, Dukinfield, Cheshire, England. She married John Lees Sr. on 4 April 1825 in Ashton-Under-Lyn, England. hey had the following children: James Lees (b. 23 Sep 1824), James Lees (b. 9 Feb 1825), Mary Lees , Joseph Lees (b. 23 Mar 1829), Susannah Lees (b. 11 Dec 1830), John Lees JR. (b. 9 Mar 1833), Mary Anne Lees , George Taylor Lees (b. 3 Nov 1839), Josiah Lees (b. 27 Dec 1840). Initially she was a member of the Church of England, but joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 18 April 1848. She was baptized by John Albiston and confirmed on 23 April 1848 by John Albiston Sr. (not sure whether this is the same person, or father and son). Her husband, John Lees Sr., joined the church a few months later in June 1848.  She had a miraculous story on the plains that we will feature next week.
