The week before Spencer and I went to California, we were anxious to get out on the town and feel like we were "on vacation" in Columbus (I was, at least).
For a Young Men and Young Women activity, we got to go to the Wexner Art Center on OSU campus. There was a contemporary Brazilian exhibit that we wanted the kids to see. Spencer acted as docent and had the kids really consider all the pieces in the exhibit. (He was very dashing.)
And in case you were wondering what OSU campus looks like (as I had for 8 months), here it is. This is the main square of the campus that's close to downtown.
Later that week we went to El CamiƱo. It's a taco place a friend at work recommended. It had a perfect gestalt . Unfortunately, the food - though beautifully presented - was no competition for Provo tacos.
We also went to the Columbus North Market . . . obviously it's a place that just has lots of vendors, but SO many good things to eat: pretzels, gourmet belgian waffles, Polish food, organic produce, Jeni's ice cream. The best part about it: all the free samples.
We ended the night (before a late night showing of Saving Mr. Banks at the dollah movie) at Frisch's Big Boy. The food was decent but the best part was that it's right next to the Crew stadium (haven't heard of them . . . that's okay, it's a big-deal-soccer-team-'round-here) and the guys behind us were very friendly, and very team-spirited.
Hooray for Columbus. Hooray Hooray.

Columbus looks like a fine old town, with some really fine young residents.

ReplyDeleteBike tour to Columbus? Looks like a cool town. I just found out that one of my Art Education idols did his doctorate at OSU. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteI would bike to Columbus just to be with those two cuties and their cute town. I love college towns. It looks like it is a perfect city for a hip couple. SPENCER - love the last photo of you!!
