UTAH and BACK

Last Wednesday Mom, Dad & Sarah drove up to Salt Lake to attend the Funeral of Dad's Aunt Jodee. It was good time to see family and express our love to the Allen & Jodee Cornwall Family.
Allen & Jodee's children (Dad's cousins) & spouses - from the left - Denise (and Mike Farrington), Allen Jr. (and Lisa Cornwall), Diane (and Mark Ebert), and Debbie (and Dean Peters).

After the morning services and luncheon we drove down to Provo and were treated to pizzazzy homemade pizzas by Jeffrey and Reesa... after a must-do stop at Sun Shine produce.

Friday was spent up the Weber. We did all the regular fun stuff... walk down the lane...
... cross the swinging bridge, and swing on the ghetto mattress springs swing... have yummy meals and play a rousing game that evening (at which Mom killed...)
A main focus of the trip was to deal with the raging Smith & Morehouse river. With a 400 year record snow pack and warm weather on the way there is concern of the river coming over it's banks.
Dad's cousin-in-law, Mark Ebert arranged to have the County deliver two truck loads of sand and 800 sandbags...
Mom and Dad got an jump start on filling sandbags during some spare minutes on Friday.

Early Sat. morning the full cousin crew showed up with Ebert's bobcats. Sand was a-flyin'.

A sandbag barrier was put in a semi-circle around the upstream side of the cabin.
A second barrier was placed to build up the berm on the river bank.
In all about 600 sandbags were put in place.
And the sand piles pretty much disappeared.
The "four hour" job was done in about 2 hours thanks to all the help from nearly every branch of the family. The crew was then treated to a fine canyon lunch.
Let's see... there were (from the left) 5 Alvords + a (girl) friend, 2 Kent Cornwalls, 2 Drages, 2 Richards, 5 Eberts, 1 Farrington, Grandpa Cornwall, 2 Madsens, 2 Peters (and not shown, Dave Cornwall, and Charlie Cornwall's son and 2 Richards cousins)

  1. We are really glad that we were able to go and reconnect with family. Being at the cabin in June, and especially this June is such a totally different experience than the August cabin. Thanks dad for making it all happen.

  2. It was sure fun to have you guys come up, even for unfortunate circumstances. Loved going to the cabin and I even enjoyed sand baggin' with distant and not so distant relatives. Thanks Dad, Mom, and Sarah for being so fun and cute with Reesa. She truly enjoyed herself while she was around you.
