Installation # 1
Here is my first installation piece. An installation essentially is a multifaceted sculpture or a sculpture with multiple pieces. Often these pieces are not necessarily made by the artist, but compiled by him/her and then set up in a specific space. Some Installations are site-specific meaning that it's location is the only location the world that it would work; it was designed to be "installed"in that exact location because of dimensions or geographic significance. This piece that I made with my group is not site specific. It could be installed in any space that is dark. It is a little difficult to tell what is going on since it is so dark. Obviously there are black lights on the floor illuminating the piece. There is a cage of string that is hung from a frame that we built. Last there is a fan that is hanging from a single source in the middle. It is blows and spins around causing movement in the strings making a very cool effect. It was well liked by all.

That IS cool Jeff. The description was good and helped understand what is going on. Good job getting your group to do a project so interesting.
ReplyDeletei saw a few fellow classmate's attempts, and this installation was significantly better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Jeffrey - we love to see what you are working on.
