PARLOR GAMES

The process has finally begun to (drum roll...)restore the front room/parlor. We finished the rest of the house from 1987 to when we were on the Old Home tour in 1994. Since then we have been waiting for "the stars to align". The "stars, in order, are 1) A few years breather from 7 years of remodeling/restoration. 2) 7 1/2 years of Bishoping, 3) A wedding, 4) Another wedding, 4) A 3rd son home from a mission + mega trip to Florida. 5) Get 3rd son and other siblings up to college, 6) Last, and a long way from least, Mom says, "Go For IT!". Yes, that is the story (Robb did you get this far?)

Here are the first steps.

STEP 1: Move the computer to the work counter in the Laundry Rm. (Actually this spot was, in the 1987 remodeling plan, intended for a computer, but this was an age long ago when computers were not the center of importance they are in today's Cornwall home.)
STEP 2: Move Dad's drafting table and work area to "the Boys" bedroom.

STEP 2a: To accommodate Step 2 - we needed to get rid of one of "the boys" beds. We were going to move it above the garage, but it was easier to just bunk them. So if Jeffrey ever brings a BYU bud home for a weekend they can be bunk mates, etc.... Won't that be fun?

STEP 3: Clean out 20 years of accumulated "valuables" from the Palor dump, excuse me - the shelves, cupboards and crannies.

STEP 4: Since we can't start on removing the wall and ceiling plaster... pending piano moving muscle ... Dad started the scrubing task with several different solutions to clean 100 years of thick black soot from the fireplace brick, etc...

  2. Yay! I love the history that goes along with the construction. Some exciting things are going on that are even more fantastic than my beautiful hair. {if you can believe it!}

  3. Rach I can't believe it and I will not believe it. But I will try

    OH MY GOODNESS!! The day has finally arrived. It always seemed like a dream, something that may never actually come to pass. But it is and it is right in front of our noses. You guys have your work cut out for you, and you decided to do it when all the big strong Men are far away from home. I am excited to see the progress, thank you for sharing. That will be a fun treat. Now Rachel and sararhs dates will have a place to await them as they primp getting ready or when the Missionaries come over so they don't have to see the preparations while dinner is being prepared, And Last but not least so that Santa will not be confused as to where to fill the Cornwalls stockings. What a treat that room will be, Way to go
