Shortly after we moved to Denver in 1965 my dad was made the bishop of the Denver 13th Ward. A ward party, a commemoration of the pioneers coming into the valley, was one of the first events of his administration. I'm not sure why Barb and I were designated as Indians. I guess that was part of the pioneer story. My mom made the beautiful pioneer dress and bonnet in the picture below. I think she had "a fall". That was a long wig. I am in possession of that dress. I have used it several times for seminary videos. It is a teeny tiny size. I don't think I would have fit into as a teenager. Wow - way to go Grandma Hodgkinson!!!
