The best thing about being married to a school teacher is summer vacation. Getting to spend so much time adventuring, catching up on life and just being together is so, so wonderful. We began our summer adventure with a road trip to Washington State to stay with my parents, attend my best friend's wedding and explore the Pacific Northwest. Naturally, I was a bit worried about making such a long drive with a one-year old, but Wendy did so well with the many hours she spent in her carseat. She kept herself entertained for the first hour of our trip without toys and was a real trooper staying happy during our travels. Our first day was rather long (about 9 hours of driving) but we found relief as we pulled into Emigrant Springs State Park. Jeff stumbled upon this gem of a campground during his search for a place to stay along our route. It was quite refreshing to camp in the great outdoors after being stuck in the car all day. Wendy loved it. She's been camping before, but she really seemed to love the tent this time. According to Jeff, camping here was the best part of our trip. He decided that we will stay here from now on, every time we drive to Washington. The beautiful landscape, distance along the route, affordability and the fact that it is a half mile off the freeway made this the perfect start to our adventure.
