Six Months

Our little Wendy is six months old which means she has been with us for half a year! She continues to make us smile and laugh with her bright and happy personality. She really is such a light. Our home is a happy place with Wendy there. It's hard to describe the pure joy that having a child brings. It is a huge sacrifice to be a mom or dad, but being a parent brings the most genuine and overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment. There are no words to adequately describe how happy Wendy makes us. I am so grateful we get to be with our sweet and silly girl forever. I can't imagine life without her and am so happy to spend my days with her. She puts everything into perspective and is a gentle reminder of how much our Heavenly Father loves us. If we love Wendy this much I cannot even begin to comprehend how much our Father in Heaven loves us, His children.

Wendy has grown so much during this past month. She is getting close to being able to sit by herself without any support. She generally does well and just needs a bumper as she is still a bit wobbly. Her toes often find their way into Wendy's mouth, which never fails to make us smile.

She started doing this funny hip lift when she gets excited and discovered it is also an efficient way of scooting up to the top of her crib or turning around on the play mat. It is so funny to watch her lift those little hips up and down.

She loves sitting up to the table for family dinners. Her interest in food has grown and she loves to watch people eat. We also discovered that she loves aluminum foil. We gave her a piece to play with during dinner and she grabbed it with wide eyes. She was fascinated by the shiny silver and the crinkling sounds. We took it away from her before she got it into her mouth and the biggest frown appeared on her face followed by the saddest tears. That was the first time she ever cried when we took something away from her.

Her facial expressions grow more and more animated which keeps us quite entertained. She is going to be a goofy girl...more so than she already is! Oh how we love our little Wendybird. She is our joy and happiness. Being her parents is such a privilege.

Wendy tries really hard to sit on her own but is a little wobbly. She manages to stay up for a good little while before tumbling over.

She does the funniest thing when she is excited or when she wants to move around. Feet planted, hands at her sides she lifts her hips up and down so she can scoot up. Jeff and I get a big kick out of her cute little hip lifts. She has also rediscovered her upper lip and likes to suck on it...pretty funny to see and hear.

She doesn't favor her tummy very much so she doesn't stay there for long. Now that she wants to be mobile, however, she'll stay on her tummy and try to scoot forward. Her attempts to move involve a lot of time with her face buried into the blanket as she lifts her knees up.

Her toes somehow always find their way into Wendy's mouth. Why is it so cute when baby's suck on their toes? I don't know if we will ever stop smiling when we see her do it.

  2. That "Wendybird" certainly does have the gift of making smiles fly onto the face of those observing her.
