HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD/GRANDPA/GREAT GRANDPA

It is fun to remember that grandpa/great grandpa was not always old with silver hair (or no hair) but that he was a baby and a young adult and a young professional.  On this birthday anniversary we celebrate the life We hope to ponder on the meaning and impact of that life on each member of this family of which he was and is the patriarch.

We have become the stewards of all the boxes of "family history" photos, writings and artifacts.  They will be scanned and shared.  This seemed like a good day to share some random ' Shirl' treasures we came across the other day.

This year we want to joy in the above.  But we can't help recalling a year ago and the love we all gave to our dear ol' dad.

  1. Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!!! What treasures these pictures are. I must add I see a lot of Justin Cornwall and some Alvord boys in those pictures. There is even one that I see some of Robbie.

  2. Man that is some BEAUTIFUL hair!!! What a difficult hardship it was to have one of his trials be losing his hair. Love this guy!

  3. Grandpa in that hat is amazing. I might have to frame that one for our home. My image of Grandpa is a fairly quiet, serious man who smiled and laughed politely. This photo captures a very rare goofy side which I don't remember witnessing.

The first photo at mirror lake is also pretty great. It shows how much has changed since Grandpa was born. I'm assuming that's his mother, Mary Alice. I'd like to say she was the type of woman who could rough it, but I guess that was normal back then.

    I'm excited to see more.

  4. These photos are such treasures. I have looked through this post multiple times today. What a handsome man Grandpa was!

It is difficult to choose favorites, but the ones from Mirror Lake are just classic. The series of portraits are too great for words. I would love to have the photo of him in the hat framed in our home!

What a wonderful man who has influenced the lives of so many for the better. Happy birthday Grandpa!
