Pines Ranch 6500

One of the last events of the summer was a week at the cabin. The Andersons were the diligent cabin-goers, while Reesa and I made trips up and down the canyon throughout the week. We really missed having Mom and Dad there, it just wasn't the same. Despite their very noticeable absence, we had a good time being there with those cute Andersons.

We had a campfire the first night, complete with tin foil dinners and some good old marshmallow roasting and s'mores making.

One of the kids' favorite activities was visiting the horses. We gathered plants and flowers to feed them until there weren't any left. Those Andersons kids are not only cute, they're pretty brave.

We kept up on the family tradition of taking a walk around the ranch. The kids loved the swingset and slide.

The boys especially loved spending so much time outside. Seth and Daniel would have thrown rocks in the river all day if they could've. They were so entertained by the splashes that they commissioned me to find the largest rocks I could carry. It was a hit, and of course they wanted me to do it over and over again.

I had taken Reesa to the cabin when we were in the early stages of our courtship, and being back I thought it'd be fun to take another photo. The one on the left was taken in the spring of 2011.

No trip to the cabin would be complete with out some river time and tubin'.

Everyone took a turn floating down the river, except for little miss Hannah. It was a rather chilly ride down the river, but the kids were brave and gave it a shot.

Dallin and I took it one step further and fully submerged ourselves in the river. In fact, I did it multiple times on account of Seth and Daniel's reactions. They were loving it and kept saying "Again, again!"

We're really glad we could spend time with the Andersons here. The cabin seemed strangely empty without our folks, but the company we had was great.

  1. I wondered why 6500 was part of the post - apparently The Pines Ranch has gotten an address. I sent this link to grandpa. If it gave me that much joy seeing my kids and grand kids enjoying the cabin I thought he would enjoy it too. I lingered on every picture to drink up the sights and sounds. Glad you guys love that piece of heaven on earth. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  2. It was so good for Katie and Dallin to make use of the Shirl Cornwall reservation and have Jeff & Reesa come up and join in the Weber fun. Oh how much we missed and found it hard not being there. We were consoled by our cause of taking care of grandpa, for whom we thank for the cabin.
